Meet Jai payne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jai Payne.

Jai, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I wanted to figure out how I can have fun every day & meet new people, but also make money. So one day, I found the closest radio station to my house, at the time I was living in North Dallas. I went on google and looked up ‘local radio stations’ within a 25 – 30-mile radius. Once I got my results from google, I picked the one that fit best for me and drove down there one day after work. Then next thing, I knew I was a radio personality, not to take in the fact that I told the owner originally it was for “school” lol. However, the owner ended up offering me my show, he gave me two options I can shadow or I can jump in the water with both feet and start my show. So, of course, I chose my show because it’s a dream of mine to be a large radio personality. I was offered two-time slots, so my first time slot was nights because it worked best with my schedule. After six months, I switched to days because my life became less crazy. Although my ratings were good, I still felt like I needed to add something more to my show. So, JuicewithJai After-dark was born and that’s when I started going out to major events Such as Fubu Mobile gala. I just started putting myself out there and it is true what they say about the universe you get back exactly what you put in! The bookings began rolling in and my career was flourishing, then I hit a dark spot in my career and life and took a break for six months. Here I am back in 2020 with a new logo, new studio, new website and booked names that are on the movie screens. What I’ve learned in my year in radio is that you don’t speak what isn’t in stone, & always stay six steps ahead. The fall isn’t what they remember; it’s how you get up that sticks forever.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was a bumpy road, lots of no’s or not interested and sexual discrimination! As a woman in the radio business is hard because a good bit of the media industry is male-dominated, not to mention the veterans are your rivals and not your ideals. After all, they want to boot you out instead of teaching you wisdom and knowledge. It’s no different from any other regular job as far as hate and downfall prayer goes, but I realized if your persistence is a key that unlocks all doors.

Please tell us about your company.
The company I am planning to start is called Jai P Broadcasting Co. and, the first person I am going to sign to it is myself. JuiceWithJai will be the first show ran and excursively produced under my company. I am a radio personality, Vlogger, and hostess. I am most proud that my company is now just an idea, but I am slowly bringing it to life. I’m young and thriving daily I’m never satisfied with the success that others see! That reason alone makes me different because it show how hard I work and that I will stop at nothing to get where I am going.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
5-10 yrs I expect my show to have me on every major red carpet in the nation.
