Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaksyn Brown.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
At first, I was shy and afraid to talk to people. But then when I started participating in pageants, I became more self-confident.
I learned how to talk in front of audiences, communicate in interviews, and present myself with poise and confidence.
I also met a lot of new friends that I have all over the country. Pageants have also given me a love of service and I am an active volunteer with the Chocolate Mint Foundation in Desoto, TX.
Through pageantry, I am now sponsored and represented by bands including Marc Defang who named a shoe after me called “The Jaksyn”.
Through pageants, I hope to inspire kids to be involved in community service and step outside of their comfort zone to try something new.
Jaksyn’s other accomplishments include being an award-winning public speaker, straight A student and recipient of The Presidential Volunteer Service Award by the Corporation for National and Community Service. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I competed in my first pageant for the Miss Texas Princess title, I didn’t even place in the top 5. I was very sad that I did not win the crown, but I wanted to keep competing, so then I competed on the national level. I won some awards, but I still didn’t place as a finalist. I cried a lot at the end of the pageant. The next year, I competed for Miss Texas again. I was determined to win the crown. I won the talent competition, won an award for having the best resume, and some other awards. I tried my very best, but I still didn’t win, but I was so close by placing first runner up.
Pageants have taught me to never give up and always have a goal in mind and keep working toward it. So on the 4th try of competing at National American Miss, I won the National Title! I was super proud of myself!
What else should our readers know?
