Today we’d like to introduce you to James Gomez.
James, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised California. After getting out of the Army, I moved to DFW. I worked a lot of dead-end jobs, I was tired of working in warehouses; feeling stuck. I was always producing music at the time and have been since middle school, but after studio hopping and going to few events, over time, I found shooting video to become more fulfilling.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Too many to talk about. One in particular was not knowing many people when I first started to get around and introduce myself. Every obstacle has been a learning experience.
Please tell us about ShotByUno.
I’m a director, I specialize in Music Videos and videography. Mainly rap artists in the DFW area, some around the state and out of town. What I’m most proud of is how organically the following of my work has grown and it’s all local. It’s consistent and gives me hope that it will be a lot bigger soon. What sets me apart from others is my perspective on how it can always be better. I never get satisfied with the last video and I’m always looking forward to the next one once it’s complete.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing pick up basketball games with my friends from my neighbor back home. It was an everyday routine especially in the summers to play sports or stay active while also trying to stay out of trouble.
