Meet James Henderson of Henderson Home Inspection in McKinney

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Henderson.

Jim is an AHIT Certified Inspector, InterNACHI Certified Pro and Texas Licensed Professional Real Estate Inspector.

Utilizing his over 35 years of Construction Industry Experience, he is focused on residential real estate inspections in Collin County and the surrounding areas, including (but not limited to) Denton, Grayson and Dallas counties.

He has been immersed in the Texas real estate business since his wife, Jodi, became a Realtor© in 2001. Jodi (who is currently devoting her time to being a wedding officiant with her own business, Open Hearts Texas and supporting Jim as his office manager) was a Senior Agent and Master Trainer at Keller Williams Realty in McKinney for eight years and with Century 21 for two years. Jim was also a licensed REALTOR with Keller Williams and has a thorough understanding of Texas home inspection requirements and the most important features of houses to be inspected in the Collin County area.

Has it been a smooth road?
God has been very good to us, I transitioned from being an instructor for 16 years into being a small business owner and while the transition was challenging it has been rewarding. I love being of service to my clients. I especially love working with first time home buyers. It is also a quirk of my nature that I love a challenge! Several years ago Jodi fought cancer and with the support of family and friends and a wonderful medical team today she is cancer free which we count as one of the best of our many blessings.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Henderson Home Inspection – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Jim’s experiences as a REALTOR, in the construction industry, as a Construction Technologies Instructor and as a Professional Inspector has taught him the importance of discovering potential structural and system issues for prospective home buyers, sellers or owners. He knows how to talk with people about homes. He helps owners, buyers and sellers understand what’s critical, as well as what’s just routine about home ownership. He is eager to help his clients know the home before they decide to buy and/or sell and to help them make an informed decision.

He earned his license as a TREC-certified Professional Real Estate Inspector — the highest designation available through the Texas Real Estate Commission. He was recently elected to be Vice-Chairman of the Collin County Association of REALTORS Inspector’s Committee, to serve 2018 – 2020. He was an instructor for Home Builders Institute, Washington, DC as a Building Construction Technology Instructor for almost 16 years. He has also served as a member of the City of McKinney Building and Standards Commission; the City of Melissa City Hall Construction Oversight Committee and as a member of the National Presidential HVAC Advisory Board, was a licensed REALTOR with Keller Williams in McKinney and was an OSHA 500 Trainer. Jim was also a contributor to the book used nationwide in vocational schools, “Residential Construction Academy’s HVAC Textbook”.

Henderson Home Inspection provides a comprehensive analysis of the current condition of a home. An inspection first assesses the structural components of a property, and then reviews the property’s major and ancillary systems. He starts by looking at a home’s foundation, then move on to other large-scale structural elements – such as its roof, basement and/or crawl space, attic, walls, ceilings, windows and doors, and floors. Then the inspection narrows in on specific systems, such as heating and cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems. The inspection also includes an assessment of how well attached garages, decks, porches and related construction have been built. To be a TREC Licensed Professional Inspector Jim completed extensive education through American Home Inspectors Training, completed training as a Professional Home Inspector with 308 hours in specified courses and has completed over 133 hours of continuing education since then.

He is a Home Advisor Certified Pro, Home Advisor Screened and Approved, Top Rated and Elite Service and Better Business Bureau Accredited.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love living in Anna and Collin County, it is the best of both worlds! You are close enough to a cosmopolitan area to be able to enjoy shopping, fine restaurants, concerts, galleries, museums and parks and yet still are able to enjoy a small town life and rural scenery within short drives of those areas. We have lived in the DFW area for 28 years and started out living in Dallas and gradually have moved north to finally settle in Anna. We also love living in close proximity to McKinney which is the most beautifully city in Texas in our opinion!
