Meet Jamie Cantrell of The JuicePlus Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Cantrell.

Jamie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a former full scholarship, Division 1 Soccer player for SMU, I had spent my entire life in the wellness arena. Training, performing and trying to keep my body fit for performance. However, growing up, I knew little to nothing about the relationship to nutrition and how it impacts health. I grew up eating a diet rich in processed, packaged, and sugar-laden foods. And for a long time was able to get away with it — call it youthful vitality.

Until I hit my early 30’s. Spent a few years in Corporate America, then transitioned into teaching health and physical education at Ursuline Academy of Dallas, and also served as their Head Varsity soccer coach. The demands of a very full career, having two young children at home and trying to create balance. Well, it just didn’t exist. Something had to give. And unfortunately, it was my health. Plagued with a long laundry list of health challenges, related to poor nutrition, our family’s pediatrician recognized that I was a malnourished mom and gave birth to 2 malnourished kids. We ate plenty –just not the right types of food.

We began as a family, eating JuicePlus plus — concentrated, whole foods — and over time, we began noticing and experiencing some positive health changes, including awareness about nutrition and the value of eating more plant-based foods. As a raving fan of the product, the education and the community, I decided to represent the company — as it matched my ethical and moral responsibilities to help families achieve better health. What ultimately began as me — the worst example of nutrition — has evolved into me serving as a scalable example to families everywhere about making progress, not perfection, towards better health.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Anything in life worth having is worth working for, in my opinion. As an athlete, I have learned that struggle is what teachers, what grows and stretches you. That is where life truly begins. So, this journey has been pretty fantastic. Not without adversity or challenge. But of all the areas I have worked: Corporate America, Education, Coaching (both high school and club soccer). Owning a home-based business is not perfect, but by far, one of the best decisions I have ever made.

A dear friend and mentor of mine in the business describe it this way: a journey in personal growth, disguised as fruits and veggies in a capsule. And I couldn’t agree more. I have learned to not only embrace but learn to be a proud professional in the network marketing arena.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The JuicePlus Company story. Tell us more about the business.
The JuicePlus Company, based in Collierville, TN, has been a thriving company for more than 50 years. Our company’s mission statement is to inspire healthy living and giving across the world. And I love that statement because every person is uniquely individual. Their definition of health is vastly different than the next person. Our company provides a roadmap for individuals and families to make simple changes, over time, to create long-term, optimal health.

When I retired from coaching, I had people asking me all the time, “do you miss coaching.” And while I loved and adored the athletes and families I had the privilege to serve (many of which I still stay connected), I view my role now, to coach on a greater platform. I love to coach — it is in my DNA. So, I believe that I am blessed to coach others to a) become aware of their health goals. To begin by looking at nutrition as a solution to what their challenges b) I love to coach individuals and families to develop a stream of income. In fact, I am obsessed with helping others develop a plan of prevention for both their health and their wealth.

I think God gives us all incredible gifts. How we choose to use them, is entirely up to us. I love seeing others step into their strengths, identify their gifts, and use those gifts to serve others. That is what I am blessed to “get to” do every day. And our team, based both locally and internationally, has adopted the brand “Choose Joy.” Joy, the acronym, standing for Just One You. There is a pretty cool story behind how the concept of Joy came about.

While there are a lot of health messages, products and companies nowadays (and a good reason for that), I affiliated with the JuicePlus company for a few specific reasons — which ultimately set us apart: a) we are a total family program. Every person, from pediatric to geriatric can consume Juiceplus. And that makes it a simple decision for families, so they aren’t confused by a lot of messages and can choose one simple program for everyone in their household b) we are real food, concentrated food. Plant powders. We carry a nutrition label, not a vitamin label. Food from the ground. Going back to a basic, fundamental message for people to eat more plants or grow their own produce.

And, our business model is simplistic. Who doesn’t like to hit the simple button, right? It is designed for everyone — not everyone will choose it — but it masterfully combines some of the best business practices from several models to create a unique model of its own. I just believe that having several streams of income is not only smart but necessary in this day and age. Owning a home-based business is part of a smart, strategic plan for financial peace.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Fun question. I am beyond grateful for the incredible life I lead. Every morning, I surrender a prayer of gratitude, knowing that I am living out a passion and purpose greater than myself. As I stop and reflect, I see all the “moments” in life beautifully interwoven, and leading to where I am today. Funny, life is full of challenge and adversity, but in retrospect, it is pretty awesome to look back and see how those situations and moments were used for a greater purpose.

I strongly believe in a few concepts…
I am a woman of great faith, and I know that my plan and purpose has been created by God. And that He has given me free will to choose how I proceed. I believe that life is a based on daily decisions and choices.

Ultimately, creating a compound effect, either good or bad. The joy of life is found in the small, daily decisions. I have been blessed in life to be surrounded by incredible leaders and mentors that have helped shape me, and thus, have had an impact on my daily decisions.

And I also believe in the power of mindset. Listen, life is going to “happen” to all of us. Who you are, who you choose to be, what you become and your character is defined by how you respond. Mindset is a choice. Everyday. One of my most favorite quotes is pretty basic: “you are responsible for the energy you bring to the room.”

It isn’t about how many times you fall in life, it is about how many times you get back up. So, to answer your question, I do believe life has luck. I call them “God-wink moments.” But more so, I find that life is more about the daily. More about asking yourself quality questions, so that you can begin living a quality life. Life is full of “busy” and “to do” lists and such. I am more interested, actually obsessed, with living an exciting life — and helping others to do the same. By intention.
