Today we’d like to introduce you to Janae Carroll.
Janae, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In early 2017, I was a stay at home mom with two small children looking to do something that would allow me to help our family financially and still be able to work from home. A friend recommended me to Stacey Hess who is the CEO of Sign Gypsies LLC and saw that she was looking to hire for their corporate office. I began working in February handling the customer service side and a few months later, Stacey offered the McKinney location to me, which I jumped on! I celebrated my 2-year anniversary of owning the location Oct 1st. I still work for corporate as well as run the McKinney location. It has been an incredible opportunity and has given me a purpose beyond being a wife and mom, which was just what I was looking for. This business is so fun and allows the flexibility to still be with my children and not miss out on their school events, extracurricular activities and time as a family. The best part about it all is being a part of people’s celebrations. From birthdays to welcoming home a military dad, or celebrating triumph over cancer, the smiles that our signs bring, is such a joy and wonderful business to offer.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a transition for our family as the majority of our signs are set up at night, which for me, is a struggle because I’m not a night person. However, I have an amazing helper that sets up 90% of our nighttime signs and that’s been a true blessing. My husband is also very supportive and helpful; I couldn’t do it without him.
The amount of love and popularity of our signs keeps me very busy and it’s seven days a week/365 day job. We don’t close because we understand people have celebrations every day of the year! I’m thankful for every single order that comes my way.
Please tell us about Sign Gypsies McKinney/East Frisco.
Sign Gypsies is a yard sign rental company that provides amazing art for your yard and does all the work for you! We do the setup and takedown and keep the process as smooth and simple as possible. What sets us apart are the quality of our signs as well as the options and designs we offer. Sign Gypsies uses hand-painted graphics, mega numbers, frames for photo ops, and so much more to make each sign professional, personal, and beautiful for every single customer. We also offer seasonal resale items that people can keep. I love seeing our graphics as door hangers or staked in the yard throughout our neighborhoods.
The growth of Sign Gypsies has been tremendous. This company started by Stacey Hess back in 2014 has now grown to over 450 locations nationwide. It’s amazing to be able to own your own location and celebrate all of life’s events with our communities.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Making homemade chocolate chip cookies, family conversations at the dinner table, and fishing with my dad.
