Meet Janiza Dixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janiza Dixon.

Hi Janiza, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started getting acquainted with makeup in 2016 when I was A freshman in college I purchased A small inexpensive kit to start at the time I had no knowledge of makeup at all so I would consistently watch numerous YouTube videos until I got the basic concept of applying makeup people would notice how good of a job I perfected my own makeup and would ask if I could do theirs at this time it was just a hobby for me At first I would constantly decline when others ask me to do their makeup but one day I decided To test the waters I began taking clients for $25-$40 just to cover the cost of products fast forward to the beginning of the pandemic I began to really center my attention more towards my Makeup career I have grown so much as a MUA not only is it just makeup but I’m providing an experience for my clients I enjoy making women feel beautiful. I never imagined being a professional MUA for a living being that I was so caught up in everything else around me. Makeup is therapeutic and I’m super passionate about it, it truly excites me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a MUA has not been a smooth road for me at all. I have had plenty of obstacles along the way but in the end, always come out on top I am consistently working on what can I do to be better artist There are always ups and downs when accomplishing goals and going after your dreams You have to always remember why you started and understand that after every struggle there is victory! I’d say one of the biggest struggles for me was transitioning into Dallas being that I am originally from Jackson, Mississippi which is also where my business originated. Dallas is much different from my hometown. running a business in a bigger city takes much more effort than running a business in a small town I would get very discouraged and wonder why things were moving so slowly. Definitely put in the time and effort. I wanted faster results, but it didn’t sink in that good things come to those who wait I push through any obstacle I have because there is always a resolution to solve my problems. If you really want something, you’ll do whatever it takes to make things right and chase after your dreams.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a makeup enthusiast and artist located in Dallas, TX I specialize in enhancing the beauty within women & teaching others how to perfect their makeup skills. I am most proud of not only my growth but how I can help others feel beautiful through my work. I enjoy making women feel beautiful within themselves. What sets me apart is that I’m very hardworking and

determined. I have the mindset of a true hustler, there’s not one off day in my life. have this thing where I feel like if I’m not working or being productive, I’m not existing. As I said before, I’m very passionate about what I do.

What’s next?
For the future, I plan to add more beauty services which may involve taking me out my comfort zone but I’m ready to open up this new chapter My mindset is if you don’t take risk, you’ll never learn or grow. You will never see your true potential living life being comfortable. I constantly remind myself to never stay comfortable.
