Meet Jaricka Thomas of Saving Sense

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaricka Thomas.

Hi Jaricka, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for financial education and literacy is rooted in my personal financial challenges. Leaving graduate school with $66K in student loan debt, taking out $30K more in consumer loans without thinking, and living beyond my paycheck caused a lot of anxiety and uncertainty about my day-to-day life. After making tons of financial mistakes in my early adulthood, I realized how necessary financial literacy was for improving my physical health, mental health, and relationships.

As an occupational therapist by trade, I have worked for years with patients and clients within the community who have suffered the impact of financial illiteracy, leading them to decreased access to medications, low-quality healthcare, and forced retirement with little to no retirement savings.

Through my personal experiences and the experiences of my clients, I learned that I needed to make a change. With extensive self-study, training, and late-night readings, I created a personalized process to pay off over $70K in debt, save more, invest aggressively, and build a strong financial foundation.

After studying and receiving my certification in financial education, I have an ongoing motivation to teach others, empower the community, and guide them along their personal journeys toward financial freedom.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This road has not been smooth, but it has been meaningful. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve had to learn how to navigate uncertainty, wear multiple hats, challenge my way of thinking, and keep showing up even when things felt unclear. One of the biggest challenges was trusting my vision before it was fully visible to others. I had to unlearn the idea that I needed to have it all figured out before I could make an impact.

I have experienced seasons where imposter syndrome, doubt, and mental and emotional fatigue. Building a business with no degree or formal training in ‘business’ meant that I needed to learn, try, fail, and try again…multiple times.

Finance is a sensitive topic for most. But trusting my authenticity, providing value, and being available to the community has been a driving force in my continued growth and success. My business will only fail if I allow it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Saving Sense?
I help individuals, families, and professionals understand and take control of their money with strategy and realism. My work goes beyond budgeting. I bring clarity to the big picture: income, debt, goals, mindset, and behavior. I specialize in making money feel simple, even when life isn’t.

What sets me apart is that I don’t just give people answers: I help them ask better questions, the kind that lead them to the outcomes they desire towards their version of their best quality of life. My brand is built on trust, real conversations, and results that give them exactly what they need.

I’m proud that clients feel seen, not judged. This space was created for people get empowered to lead their financial lives, not just survive them. I offer 1:1 and group services, online programs, free resources, a weekly newsletter, and support and education to the online audience and community.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success, to me, is alignment. The freedom of how and where I spend my time, money, and energy that reflects what truly matters me. Having goals not just for the sake of goals, but for the quality of life and resources like time that can never be returned to us. That is success.
