Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Baugus.
Jasmine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Jasmine Baugus. I am from Killeen, Texas but recently moved to Dallas on February 6, 2020. Being a basketball player has been my dream since I was five years old. Fulfilling part of that dream, I played basketball from elementary through high school. You can only imagine how ecstatic I was when I received a full-ride scholarship to Texas State University. During my senior year of college, I realized that I was no longer in love with basketball. My passion and drive for it weren’t there.
After graduating from college with my bachelor’s degree, it was now time for me to pursue my purpose in life. At that time, I was not sure what that was. I moved back home, and my good friend, my brother, Felix Marbury, imparted to me an opportunity to get in the best shape of my life while helping others do the same. From that day forward, I committed myself to physical health. I fell in love with the fact that I can help people by training their bodies. Not only can I produce feelings of confidence and value in myself, but I can do the same for other individuals as well. In that, I found purpose. It became clear that health and fitness would be my niche. Six years ago, I decided to make helping people become the best version of themselves physically and mentally in my career.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. There were times where I felt that I could not make this a career. My clientele flow was low, and people were not coming to me to get healthy anymore. I lost my mojo. If I can be transparent, I stopped walking in my purpose. I still trained from time to time but ultimately settled for a job and got comfortable. In my heart, I knew that I could not keep living that way. I had to fight to get where I am today. I could not have survived or conquered the battles if I did not work on myself spiritually, mentally, and physically.
We’d love to hear more about BodyByBaugus.
BodyByBaugus is a brand that represents ambition, power, and growth. We offer an intimate service experience that challenges you physically and mentally. Our top priority is to help you become the best version of yourself.
As a company, I would say that the transformations of the people I have trained is the thing that I am most proud of. What sets me apart from other trainers is that unlike most, I don’t aim for physical health first, my goal is to make your mental health a priority. I feel that people sometimes overlook how those two intricate pieces tie into one other. It is almost impractical to believe that you can accomplish any goal if your mental health is not there as well. If you train with me or have previously trained with me, you know that personal development is a critical part of your workout program. Your mind tells your body what to do. I add personal development into the programs to help people get motivated and inspired to workout.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I just moved to Dallas, Feb 6, 2020. There isn’t one thing I dislike about the city. I love it here. Everyone is extremely driven and connected. We all help one another with our businesses and work together as a community. If I could tell anybody starting out in Dallas is to put yourself out there, people in Dallas are going to support you and invest in your business if you just be yourself. Moving here was the best discussion I have ever had in my life. I’m so glad I took that leap of faith.
