Hi Jasmine , thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
Hi everyone ! My name is Jasmine however family and friends call me JMarie. I am from Sunny Southern California and grew up in Long Beach, Orange County and some parts of the IE area. I went to college for fashion management however, I’ve been into fashion since I’ve known what clothes are. I have done 10 years of retail jobs, management and positions with retail. I have had two brands previously, however they say thirds times a charm right?
My brand which is pronounced My Style Inc but spelled MyStilinc which is style is pronounced “Stil” in French. I created this fashion online e commerce store that is inspired by runway trends and incorporating it to women’s everyday style. Rather a woman is running an errand, going on a date, vacation or even lounging at the house. MyStilinc is for every woman who runs their runway( whatever your lifestyle is), Mystilinc has something for you. Fashion is about variety and making it into your own.
How was Mystilinc created?
MyStilinc was created from my mother who transitioned in 2019. The day she passed away, I had a customer who had bought from my previous brand that was open prior to her passing. A week after my mom passed, I had an urge to try again. I was taking care of my father at the time who end up passing away as well eight months after my mom. I truly felt as I was looking at a runway show, ideas just started to flow through my mind.
The name was all just research, my dads, sister and a few friends proposal if they liked the name as much as I did.
What does Mystil mean?
Mystilinc is pronounced MyStyle in English but Still is spelled in French. MyStilinc has a saying, “Everyday is your runway”. Meaning: everywhere you go getting dressed : running errands, going on a date, traveling, work, school, church and anything else that deals with your daily lifestyle.
What direction is Mystilinc going?
MyStilinc direction has always been runway inspired, however you can wear the styles daily. In the future, Mystilinc wants to continue expanding the brand more with plus size styles and accessories to complete your runway looks. Later down the line, men’s and children clothing as well.
Any new collections or any arrivals coming soon?
Yes!!! MyStilinc has our two year anniversary collection dropping September 27, 2021. Our actual anniversary is August 23rd. The anniversary collections are so important due to them being in honor of my mother. She has her own holiday collection every December for the holidays.
What would you tell someone who wants to start a company or brand?
For anyone who wants to start a company or brand it’s be possible! If you are passionate about what you start, you will be successful. Money will come, be made, lost and repeated until consistency is present. ALWAYS be passionate about what you do vs how much money you can make. To my believers, if God gave you a crazy idea or vision, He will give us the tools. Take the leap of faith. Creating companies and brands now a days are coming off as “overnight successes” however it truly is hard work. Celebrate every victory small or big! You deserve it. Patience and passion have to go hand in hand when those trials come because they will. Hard work and consistency pays off at the end !
