Meet Jasmine Clayborn of Piece of Peace Gems in Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Clayborn.

Jasmine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Piece of Peace was created out of a labor of self-love that leads me on a journey to find peace at all costs. 2015 was one of the darkest most enlightening years of my life. I remember being so depressed and anxious all of the time that I couldn’t do a thing. I didn’t want to be around anyone but my parents and siblings. I wasn’t sleeping at all, which ultimately affected every part of my life. Aside from insomnia, I suffered migraines, rapid weight gain, paranoia, and just unhappiness. I was hiding behind a smile that I didn’t feel most days. I buried myself under my covers in the darkness read books and wrote in my journal because that was the only thing I enjoyed doing. The only thing I felt like putting energy towards.

That year I decided to make changes in my life and went searching for natural sleep remedies that could calm my racing mind, spirit, and help me sleep better. Initially, I was going to a popular store in the mall to buy essential oils. I’d read up on all types of essential oil mixes that would calm my anxiety and help me sleep better. They worked. However, the more I visited the store, the more interested I became in trying out crystals.

Along with natural remedies, I began to document my self-love and peace journey through a blog that birthed Queen Sized Blog. I was so nervous about starting the blog because I’d always been a very private person. Only sharing small details about myself so that no one would ever get to close or judge me but venting about some of the things I was struggling with relieving and it shocked me how many other women shared the same struggles through this blog, I shared the importance of protecting my peace and some of the ways I did that. I introduced my readers to healing through meditation and crystals which pushed me to create a Piece of Peace Gems.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s a learning experience so it wasn’t as smooth as I would have liked it to be. Starting a business was a whole new world for me. I learned and I’m still learning a lot of things about owning a small business. It took me a while to even create my site. I didn’t want to spend money on photographers and getting a logo made so I did it on my own. I created a simple logo and website that just looked clean. I worked for weeks on taking product photos I had no idea about taking pictures or editing them but after a couple of months of figuring it out, I launched my site.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Piece of Peace Gems is an online metaphysical and healing crystal store offering beautiful tumbled gems, rough stones, custom crystal jewelry pieces, crystal sets, and smudge kits. My store is very new so I haven’t figured out exactly what my specialty is yet, but I’m most proud of my crystal sets. I remember when I began using crystals I researched endlessly on how crystals worked and even spoke with different people I saw purchasing crystals in the stores I frequented. When I was ready, I went into the store to shop with intention. So I wanted to create sets for people who are new to healing crystals and help them shop with intention. Some people have the worst time choosing crystals because they aren’t sure if they want something that just looks good or something that would aid them in some way. I created sets for the creatives, love, peace, protection, and prosperity. They have been my biggest sellers and are great for people who are just learning more about crystals.
