Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Goodwin.
Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My esthetician journey began in August 2012 when I enrolled in Ogle Beauty School for Hair Skin and Nails. I was 20 at the time and I was suffering from hormonal acne breakouts from a birth control that I started taking my freshman year of college. The acne left me insecure and I was desperate to learn more about the anatomy of skin and how to combat my acne issues. School was empowering. I naturally had a passion for making others feel better about their self-appearance so after I graduated in February 2013, I immediately started my aesthetics career. I moved to Houston that same year and started working at a medical spa where I was able to perform more advanced skincare treatments. Simultaneously, I worked part-time at a wax studio where I developed an interest in waxing. Soon after I decided that I enjoyed waxing the most and that I wanted to further my career in the hair removal business. Particularly, Brazilian Wax hence how Jaszissweet Brazilian Wax Studio came about. I continued working at the studio for 7 years. In that time, I learned so much about maintaining a clientele and decided that it was time for me to go solo and start my own hair removal business. In the year 2020, I was back in Dallas. My friend had started her own hair company and had an extra room for me to execute my business plan, I began renting out my suite and immediately started marketing to build my clientele in a new city. I’ve enjoyed the ups and downs that I have faced in my first year as a small business owner and I am excited about the opportunities that will come. I recently had a baby girl so once my maternity leave is over, I am excited to introduce some new and exciting things for the year 2022 to further my vision in the skincare industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business in a new city has definitely been a challenge. I’ve had to do a great deal of marketing and networking. My loyalty program and referral program has brought in a lot of new individuals. The clientele that I have built I am forever grateful for each individual for believing in me as a business owner. Business definitely plummeted during the start of the Covid pandemic. I was forced to closed down because my business was not considered essential during that time. I did keep my clients updated during that time so once my doors were open again it made up for the few weeks that my business was closed. In that time, I did learn the importance of online sales so I am definitely prepared for any future tragedies if they occur.
As you know, we’re big fans of Jaszissweet Brazilian Wax Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Jaszissweet Brazilian Wax Studio is a hair removal studio that specializes in Brazilian Wax. I offer the service to both men and women along with my signature Vajacial AKA Vulvacial and Manjacial service. I have been waxing for 8 years and the goal is to keep clients coming back for smoother skin and a visible reduction in their hair growth. I personally have experienced the satisfying results from waxing regularly and always share my personal experience with clients about the benefits. It’s rewarding to see clients go from coming every 4 weeks to every 6 weeks and some even longer. I enjoy hearing the excitement my clients get from their results and that they always brag about how minimum the pain is. I pride myself on my technique. I don’t like to rush any of my hair removal services and my clients appreciate me for taking the time out to remove the hair the proper way to avoid discomfort and possible breakouts. My doors are open to anyone ready to start their hair removal journey with waxing.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, I’ve learned the importance of online sales. I am introducing my skincare line this year and will continue promoting digital gift cards.
