Meet Jason Call of Pristine Ink in The Design District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Call.

Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After working at Albertsons as a Grocery Manager for 14 years and 7 months, I left to pursue my passion with art. I have always loved the art of tattoos. While I was getting tattooed, the artist, knowing that I could draw, asked if I had ever considered becoming a Tattooer. He told me that I’d never know if I could do it if I never tried. After that, I put together a portfolio of my drawings and set out to start an apprenticeship. After being an apprentice, and tattooing many different styles, I began to develop my own style and found that geometric designs were my niche. I pride myself in my pristine linework, and my clients recognize that.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve definitely hit a few bumps in the road, and honestly almost quit on two occasions. In the beginning, it was a struggle to really just understand how to tattoo, how it all works. It was also financially hard in the beginning. I left a very high paying job, to an apprenticeship where I hardly made enough to cover rent. If it wasn’t for the strong support of my wife, family, and close friends, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Please tell us about Pristine Ink.
I am a Tattoo Artist, specializing in geometric tattoos. I am most proud of how far I’ve come in the industry in the short time that I’ve been tattooing. What sets me apart from others is my linework and the fact that I realize that I am blessed to be where I’m at right now. I am very humbled and my clients definitely take notice to that.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memories all revolve around playing hockey. From playing with my friends in our cul de sac to competing on a team.
