Meet Jason Marascio of Texas Show Promoters in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Marascio.

Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since purchasing my very first car in high school, a 1970 Chevelle, I was hooked. I was born and raised in California where my passion for the car culture really cultivated. Whether I was customizing vehicles for myself or flipping them to support my own addiction to having nice rides, I was always involved in cars. I’ve bought and sold over 250 vehicles over the last two decades with more than 95% of them being Chevy’s. Even though my loyalty lies with Chevrolet I have genuine passion for all types of vehicles, their owners, and the culture. My wife and I moved to Texas in 2004 which was extremely difficult on us as we had fallen on some really hard times. Hard to believe but we actually sold all of our personal belongings, packed up our 86 Chevy C10 and 2000 Toyota Corolla and started heading back to California. We stayed the night in Amarillo and woke up the next morning having second thoughts about leaving Texas.

After some serious soul searching that morning we chose to turn around. Even though we were homeless and penny less at the time, we both dug deep and started all over. We had both found new 9-5 jobs and ended up staying with a friend for a short time before moving into an extended stay and then finally working our way into an 800 sqft. apartment. We hustled and worked as much as we could which lead me to a second job getting rental properties ready for investors on the weekend while still working a full-time job Monday thru Friday. After a few short months, I found myself making more money working weekends than working 40-50 hours as a service advisor at a dealership. I quit my job and started doing make ready work full time which then evolved into leasing properties. Everything grew so quickly that we ended up starting a real estate business, We Buy North Texas Homes and my wife was able to quit her job and begin working full time with me. Shortly after, we created a second company, North Texas Property Management.

For several years, I put my passion for cars and the automotive scene on hold while making the real estate business my top priority. My wife and I eventually moved into a 2800 sq.ft. house, had two kids, my oldest son moved to Texas to live with us, and life was good. Now, that we had built two successful businesses and had some extra capital, it was time to get back into the car scene. I picked up a 2005 Chevy Silverado who I named Mr. Chevy. I quickly started customizing him and also got back into flipping vehicles as that has and always will be my hobby. Some guys are into sports, hunting, fishing… I’m into cars and trucks. Since I had not been in the automotive scene for so many years, I found it difficult to find auto-related events and really get back into the scene. Figuring there had to be other auto enthusiasts out there like myself who struggled to find events I created an IG page, Texas Show Promoters. Having no idea what I was getting into I merely started posting other people’s events that I’d find via Google searches as well as on FB or IG. It was very slow to start, I kept at it for 2.5 years before the page had gotten so big that I had to hire a full-time employee just to help keep up with the demand. Enthusiasts from all over Texas were now messaging us, sending and tagging us in their posts just so they could get their events posted on our social media outlets. After hiring a full-time employee the challenge was figuring out how to pay him.

We started hosting our own events whether it was local car meets, cruises, or our largest event, TSP SLAM (Texas Show Promoters Single Largest Automotive Meet). We rented out the largest venue in the DFW, Texas Motor Speedway and last year, May 6th 2019 we hosted one of the largest meets Texas had ever seen. We had 2339 vehicles and 4732 spectators in attendance for our inaugural year at SLAM. The dream continued as we would host meets at a variety of different restaurants and places of entertainment. With such great success bringing the automotive community together, we were invited to host a cruise/meet at Gas Monkey Garage. What an honor that was as we were the very first to ever host an event at Richard Rawlings actual Garage. We’re now getting geared up for SLAM this year which takes place on May 5th which not only happens to be Cinco De Mayo but also Texas Show Promoters four year anniversary. We’re anticipating over 4k vehicles and upwards of 8k spectators this year. TSP and TSP SLAM will continue to grow because of the amazing community of enthusiasts in Texas. We cannot thank them enough! We have some big plans for TSP and we’re just scratching the surface of possibilities.

Texas Show Promoters – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Texas Show Promoters is unlike any other company since it has never really been done before anywhere in the country… maybe the world. Not sure anyone would have been crazy enough to spend three years of their life posting, sharing, and promoting other people’s events for free while trying to build a brand. Here we are almost four years later and now, we’re hosting our own events, cruises, and meets.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is putting in the time and building something you can call your own. My wife and I are not financially rich but we have our health, our family, friends, and we stuck it out through some pretty hard times and came out on top. We look back and measure our success by our accomplishments together as a team.

We just finished our second car show of the year and are not happy with who we have as a promoter. I would like to discuss possibilities of you being our promoter in 2020. Can you give me a call whenever possible. Thanks
