Today we’d like to introduce you to Jawad Dashti.
Jawad, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was a drop out of high school and homeless at 17. My grandfather pushed me to get a job in construction to start over. I really fell in love with it. I saved up, scraped, sacrificed and bought my first rental in 2012. I had to live in it while I remodeled it.
With no electricity and slept on the floor, flipped the house and bought 2. Continued to do the same over and over. I had a goal to be a millionaire by 30 and missed it by 3 months. Today at 33, I currently own 31 houses. Condos and apartments all over DFW.
And I have just branched out a new company TooDash HomeBuyers which trains people how to do the same and make commissions finding me properties that fit my portfolio.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting out homeless was a big challenge. I also had my realtor cheat me out of a lot when he knew I had just began. Once I started doing it all on my own I did a lot better.
Also, surprisingly had lots of family and friends not help even though they had experience in real estate. And surprise which ones stepped up to make sure I made it all happen.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about TooDash Properties – what should we know?
At TooDash Properties we do several things:
We save people from foreclosure by purchasing their homes before they go to auction.
In return we get the homes at a discount
Then we decide what is best for the property. To flip it or keep as a rental.
We also help people by taking the homes and helping people by offering for sale by owner to people who can’t qualify for loans.
We offer low income and second chance housing as well.
What sets us apart is that we only like business where everyone walks away happy. Buyer. Seller. Renter.
I am proud of what we get to do for the community by cleaning up neighborhoods by fixing up the ugly duckling house. And by offering options on housing that can suit anyone.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance.
Persistence.
Patience.
Taking the time to listen to people about their needs. That’s a huge part.
I listen to why people need to sell and work with them to help. I listen to why people need to rent. We take time to get to know our clients.
And I never could have done it without the help of Kendra Dashti, Todd Long, Emily Long, and Tawnya Dashti who works on the job putting in long hours with me daily.
