Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaxson Turner.
Hi Jaxson, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
How I got started was with my 11th birthday. I decided to feed the homeless for Easter. Instead of birthday presents, I asked my friends for donations to purchase an Easter Dinner. My community came together and we raised $12,500 and fed 350 people at Dallas Life Shelter.
While we were there, 2 young ladies shared their stories of being homeless due to Domestic Violence and escaped with their children and the clothes on their backs. That moved me.
Each Saturday in May I set up at Taco Delite and collect necessities. Our goal is to inform as many as we can that so many children are affected by DV.
During the first weeks of school, I saw that some of my friends did not have their school supplies. They were embarrassed and that made me sad for them. I decided to do a Back to School Project. I sell lemonade during the summer each Saturday. We raise money to buy backpacks, school supplies and provide free haircuts.
This year we served 200 students!
Who could skip over Christmas? We do fundraising to have a Christmas Party for homeless children at a shelter in McKinney. I forgo presents to make sure that each child has a new coat, new sneakers/boots, socks, toys, and much more! We throw a Christmas Party and provide face painting, arts and crafts, a hot meal, and more.
My efforts are done in hopes to Make God Proud!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think like the whole world, we also suffered due to Covid-19. Somehow, God has always made a way for us to meet our goals and help in our community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
