Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Schuminsky.
Jay, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
All Storage is a family-owned and operated business, Mike Schuminsky, my dad, mentor, and best friend, was a visionary in the self-storage field. Not only did he develop all of the original All Storage locations, he also was a pioneer in creating larger location, pushing storage amenities like cameras, plasma screens, great big comfortable offices, and different storage types like our EZ Drive Thru feature which allows our customers to pull into the buildings to unload their belongings and exit on the other side. Mike realized that people wanted a better product, not those first-generation storages where you’re more likely to leave with cobwebs and horror stories than a smile. Everyone told him that nobody needs this nice of a facility, why spend the extra money. Today a lot of people are going to the more premium type facilities- so that has put more of an onus on us to continue to innovate. It’s rare you see anything new in storage- but we continue to shake it up. We have our new trademarked “box office” storage office. It’s creative, bright, and just adds a fun experience to a time in your life where you’re making a change. Why can’t you have fun with storage, why can’t you make it easier with wider and taller EZ Drive Thrus, why can’t there be more lights, more amenities and better service to boot. All Storage is growing by leaps and bounds, with and out of its box as the growth story lets us share our better product and customer-centric approach with more of Fort Worth, and North Dallas.
Has it been a smooth road?
Self Storage is not necessarily a product that lends itself to modernism in a lot of ways. Embracing technology was an obstacle as were the limited nature of the tech solutions in our industry. We are super excited to be launching full service tablet kiosks and the capability to be able to fully lease a unit online, something that’s currently pretty rare in our industry. We are selling more than space, we want the entire experience to be not just painless but enjoyable. Pretty novel, right?

“The Box Office”, the ‘EZ Drive Thru’, “Wow, that’s too nice to be a storage facility”. We are putting out a premium product and a better storage experience. Our customer has enough worries in their everyday life, we want to solve their individual problems and needs. Overall, All Storage as a company are very proud to be pioneers and to love what we do in a product-type that people have not traditionally been prideful of– we are storage nerds and aren’t afraid to show it!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex is very business friendly, a lot of growth, a lot of business opportunities. Because of the taxes and the cost of living benefits, and affordable cost of housing– it’s a very exciting place, there’s a reason why all the transplants are arriving (besides just the good BBQ)!
