Meet Jeff Green of The Sweet Tooth in Arlington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Green.

Jeff, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Originally from East St Louis Illinois, I started TST at the age of 21 after catching felony drug trafficking charges. It began as a simple candy/snack van that grew to a food truck/restaurant with an original menu within the first year and a half. After multiple failed attempts to gain traction in regards to a loyal customer fan base, I moved the company to Dallas Texas in December of 2017 on pure faith with only $100 to my name and a 1989 Ford F350 food truck that I built 100% by hand. Fast forward to two years later,2 food trucks later & a failed restaurant venture at The Outlet Malls of Grand Prairie we finally found positive traction in the city of Arlington henceforth our location TODAY!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not always been easy, coming from a city that only features 89 Blocks of residential living and a failing economy that spiraled downhill after the death of Michael Brown it became very difficult to operate a company in an environment that presented no hope and no visible opportunity. My driving force has been my three children among naysayers and even close friends/family that has had to be removed within the process. For the most part up until recently operating the company out of pocket with no access to financial literacy or guidance it has had its ups and downs trying to be the best father/son/business owner/friend/confidant all in one while feeling like no one truly understood the call and vision that has been placed over my life. From food trucks breaking down, having to sleep in my food truck many of nights, donating plasma some days just to have enough cash to buy product to keep the business afloat it’s been rough but every step and setback has been practice and temperament training in regards to the next level and the current level that the company has been blessed to operate at in this presented moment!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a sweet/savory company that specializes in gourmet find get foods and novelties such as Funnel Cakes, Hand-dipped strawberries, Caramel + Candy dipped apples, Original handheld sandwiches, loaded fries and much much more. What sets us apart is the originality that we were blessed to bring from the Midwest region that for the most part features artistic measure and presentation that the DFW Area is not accustomed to seeing or tasting. We are a scratch made company with several copywritten methods and an array of sauces and combinations that sets us in our creative lane in the food industry.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
God gets all the glory. You’re looking at a guy that dropped out of the 11th grade & came straight out of the bowels of the #2 Murder capitol of the world among peers and millennials that have at the time made it difficult to stay focused on the path, journey and purpose that was set before me. But God has kept me. He’s opened up numerous doors and placed numerous people in my life that has been very instrumental in my growth up until this point and for years to come. I will fail to name them all but God gets the glory above all.
