Thanks for sharing your story with us Jeff and Siddartha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
One of my biggest passions and life goals is to spread the message of individual sustainability. To me, solar energy is the beginning of this whole process. I spent some time as an installer for a local company in Houston and soon felt as though I could run a solar business myself. So I did just that. Sunshine Renewable Solutions started because my team and I are absolutely passionate about bringing clean energy to people’s homes. We can help by giving our community a chance to enjoy a world with a little less fossil fuel pollution and more financial independence when it comes to energy. We started simply as an installation team but have now progressed to a full-fledged sales and installation company, where we meet, greet and provide solar to customers all around Texas!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t really think that anything started from scratch can truly have a smooth road. The largest obstacle we faced at first was the lack of mentorship and knowledge in the solar industry. This also led to the largest reason for our success. Going through the failures and learning every step of every process personally, allowed us to master every piece of the business. We’ve struggled with everything from 100+ degree attics, turning down interested customers whose roofs are not optimal for solar, to dealing with utility regulations on installations, to getting in front of clients, to creating the ideal proposal for our customers. We have spent countless hours calculating solar savings and ensuring our customers will get enough sun to offset their energy bills. Solar is by no means an easy industry. There is an overall lack of awareness in Texas in both our customer base and in a regulatory sense that creates obstacles at every part of the process. But we love the challenge and we love what we do!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sunshine Renewable Solutions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Sunshine Renewables sells and installs solar panels primarily for residential and commercial use. What separates us from our competitors is our customer interaction. Nothing makes us happier than visiting with our clients and getting to know them. We’ve seen a number of solar companies dupe customers and neglect the whole relationship process for the sake of sales numbers. We’re not like that at all. Going solar is about joining our family and what we stand for. This is what makes us most proud of as a company. We get to know our customers very well which is reflected in our client proposals. We spend a painstaking amount of time in this part of the process. Many solar software’s spit out proposals, but they are so impersonal and not necessarily 100% accurate. We crunch numbers, run tons of simulations, and break down the cost to the tiniest minutiae so we can ensure the maximum offset at the lowest cost for our customers.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plans in the short term are focused. We want to crack the tough Texas marketplace, which has so much potential to benefit from solar. From there we want to expand to be able to take on solar projects all across the United States, and most importantly for us, make solar feasible around the world, especially in developing nations.
