Today we’d like to introduce you to Jelisa (Juice) Butler.
Jelisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started with my parents. They would always preach to us the importance of looking nice and always being presentable. This is where my love of fashion came from. Pivot initially started as an idea for a work out apparel line that I had back in 2016. I was at a point in my life where I wasn’t sure what the next direction I was going to take and was about to have to make a complete 360 and that is where I got the name Pivot from. I wasn’t 100 percent all the way in with the idea, so I put it on the shelf and kind of walked away from it. In between, I was a stylist for an artist and that’s where the idea to revamp the brand came from. Fast forward to 2019. I decided I wanted to make pivot an outdoor streetwear brand, that merged more tactical wear with high fashion. I reached out to my partner to come onto the project with me, and the rest has been history.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been pretty rocky, with a lot of bumps along the way. Being a young entrepreneur is not easy and takes a lot of self discipline. There have been many times where I wanted to stop and give up, but like we all know life is a marathon and not a sprint. It can be draining on you mentally and physically but as long as you keep moving one foot award at a time, you are going to come out on the other side victorious. Each struggle is just another chapter in your story to tell, so as long as you stay on your pivot you will always be ready for what’s next.

I am the Creator/C0-owner of the company. I oversee all the day to day processes that need to do. Pivot is an outdoor streetwear brand that promotes the advancement of life and success for all of our customers. Pivot pledges to keep the environment first in all our endeavors. We differ from other brands because pivot was created to help motivate people to focus on the future and the success of life. What I am most proud of as a company right now is how fast we are progressing in just the short amount of time we have been operating. I think it says a lot about our team and how much they believe in the brand.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My partner Cliff Danzy plays a pivotal part in helping me keep the company afloat. I don’t even think he sleeps sometimes, he is always in work mode 24/7 is just as passionate about the brand and I believe that is what is making us so successful.
