Meet Jelisha Jones of Fix Your Crown Sis in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jelisha Jones.

Jelisha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Yes, of course! I began my journey of entrepreneurship over a year ago by creating my brand, Fix Your Crown Sis. After experiencing a spiritual awakening, I began to understand that I was here to help other women learn to love fully love themselves, starting from within. I started a website for my blog. I began a YouTube channel… I wanted to inspire women to be their best selves, to love themselves fully so that they can have their heart’s desires. Presently, I just published my podcast She’s Worthy and also published my first book, “What It Means to Be Free!” and I discuss why the layers of pain I’ve endured in toxic relationships and friendships because of a lack of self- love for myself. I hope it resonates with a lot of women.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh my gosh! It has not been. It was a struggle, more for myself than anything else. I questioned my purpose a lot. It’s huge to take a leap of faith and start putting yourself out there for the world to see. In addition to that, you have to learn your audience. You have to learn your clientele. You have to build networking relationships… all of this takes me out of my comfort zone but I need it! That’s when your blessings overflow!

Also, as an entrepreneur, you have to be creative of finding ways to use your talents and turn it into profits. A lot of ideas have failed because some of it just wasn’t meant for me. I’m learning that that’s OK, too!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My business is a representation of me. I inspire women to love themselves from the inside and out. I speak my truth so that they can know that even though we’re all different – we have similar stories and backgrounds. I give them the necessary tools and skills needed to truly love themselves, know their worth and stand in it. I think I’m most proud of the fact that women are uplifted when they watch my videos or they laugh at my bluntness on my blogs. I love spreading joy.

What sets me apart from others is that I am absolutely transparent about my journey; I have never had a perfect dating history, I’ve battled depression, low self-worth and self-esteem, I’ve played second best, I’ve battled obesity, I’ve battled body dysmorphia once I lost all of the extra weight, and I’ve been at a point where I didn’t like the woman I saw when I looked in the mirror. A lot of women can relate to my story. I don’t sugarcoat my dark spots because that may spark a light in someone who is going through a similar situation at that moment. I don’t compare myself to anyone else and what they do but I do know that my work comes from my heart.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Oh wow. That’s a good question. I define success as inspiring others, and essentially building clientele. If I have a clientele that repeatedly visits my website, tune into my podcast, or support whatever venture I’m currently on, that’s success to me.

Another avenue of success for me is building networking relationships. I’ve learned you can’t do everything alone. If you want to grow, especially as an entrepreneur or an author, you need to meet and keep relationships with like-minded souls. You never know by working with someone else what door that could open for you so that’s success to me. If I’m having others wanting to work with me, or vice versa… I feel as if I am on the right path.
