Meet Jenae Hibbard of N2 Publishing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenae Hibbard.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jenae. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was in corporate America working nine to five with an hour commute to Uptown Dallas each way from the burbs. My kids were being raised by a day-care and I knew I needed a change. I decided to go back to school full-time and finish up my degree. I graduated at 31 years and walked across the stage with my 3 small children by my side. It was a very empowering time for me. For the first time in my life, I realized that my future could be anything I wanted to make it.

I found a franchise opportunity with N2 Publishing in 2013 and started my first magazine in 2014. I now own a neighborhood magazine in Frisco, TX (Far North Dallas) and am working on a new national product for Downtown Dallas. I am projected to launch the new magazine in early summer of 2018.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Since I found N2 Publishing, there have many obstacles to overcome personally including; a diagnosis of my two-year-old with Juvenile Arthritis and a personal diagnosis of fibromyalgia and an unknown auto-immune disease that causes seizures. Professionally I have ridden the wave of growth and felt the growing pains of a fast growing national company with N2. My perseverance and loyalty has kept me moving forward and the best is yet to come!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I own a franchise of N2 Publishing. We produce high-quality neighborhood publications for affluent communities. N2 Publishing has been around for 14 years and has grown into a $150 million dollar company in that short amount of time. My personal success has been in the work/life balance as well as monetary. I love knowing that as a woman business owner there is no glass ceiling. There is no limit as to what income I can achieve. I choose to place an emphasis on raising my children, while running my business. I can always put my family first and still make the kind of money I need to support us. I get out of it what I put into it. I love knowing that!

N2 Publishing has won countless awards for culture, best places to work, etc. This is why I chose to own a franchise through them. Their support of me and my colleagues continues to blow my mind after four years of being with them. Our company has a Care Team, in which I participate with. We are there to offer guidance, support, prayer and loving compassion for anyone in our company who needs it. The spiritual and professional growth I have experienced in the last four years as a publisher is indescribable and I am so grateful for my company, my magazines, my staff and my colleagues. They have all become my family!

What were you like growing up?
As a child, I was faced with much diversity. I grew up in the country music business in Fort Worth surrounded by upcoming and big-name musicians. My parents owned country music venues and managed bands. In the late eighties, our family went from having it all to losing it all. Through bad investments with the wrong people, we lost our home and had to move to an interurban area of the metroplex where gang violence and drugs were a part of my everyday life. I suffered much abuse and tragedy during my childhood years. As we built a bridge out of poverty, I found myself as a young adult having to face the dark years of my past head-on. I now work with and mentor many women who are beginning the healing process from sexual, emotional and physical abuse. My goal is for this to eventually become my full-time focus.

In the summer of 2018, I will take my first trip abroad to work one-on-one with women who have been saved from sex-trafficking and are survivors of sexual crimes. I will help them to begin healing, help to restore hope in their lives and help them to begin integrating back into normal society. This is where my heart is and without all of the scars of my past and the flexibility of my current career, I would not be able to serve these women.
