Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Becerra.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was one of those rare people who knew exactly what I wanted do to do from a young age. If you ask my mother she would happily tell you about all of the friends who would come over to have their hair done just because I HAD to get my hands on someone’s hair. Naturally, this led to a lifetime obsession with making women feel like their most beautiful selves. After graduating from cosmetology school, I learned that that passion was something that I had inherited from my mother who unfortunately had to give up her dream of being a hair stylist when she began her family.
After more than 10 years working under some of the industry’s top stylists, I really began exploring the possibility of branching out on my own. Thankfully, I met so many people along the way that truly helped me bring my vision to life. Navigating through this crazy life that I have been given would not have been possible without the strength, love, and support from both my mother and husband.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! I truly believe that anything worth having is not easily obtained and opening Jennifer Nicole Salon was no exception. There were plenty of moments where I felt completely overwhelmed, but I would just sit back and think about all of the people who were cheering me on and that motivated me to keep pushing.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jennifer Nicole Salon story. Tell us more about the business.
Here at Jennifer Nicole Salon, we pride ourselves on offering a unique experience! From the moment our clients walk in, we make it all about them. The Jennifer Nicole Salon brand stands for something unique. Gone are the days where you sit down in a stylist’s chair and feel like you being forced to get a look that doesn’t represent you. We set our selves apart by truly getting to know you to ensure that your style reflects who you are and the lifestyle you lead. Our staff undergoes a minimum of 24 classes per year to ensure that they are knowledgeable of the latest trends in the industry. Ranging from Junior Stylist’s to Master Stylist’s, we are able to accommodate anyone.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I definitely see the industry becoming more inclusive. You are no longer seeing salons that cater to just one particular style. I love that salons (mine included) are now hiring staff with diverse skill sets that cater to anyone! As far as trends go they are always cyclical. The 90’s are really hot right now in both fashion and beauty so it’s great to be able to take these trends and update them just a little to keep current.
