Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Duranczyk.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started practicing massage and bodywork in 2004 after graduating with a state and national certification from Miller Motte College in Wilmington North Carolina. I was drawn to orthopedic and sports bodywork because of my love of science, alternative health, fitness and the joy I receive in helping others. I had watched both of my parents, as well as countless others, have numerous surgeries, and then subsequent issues with pain medications. I knew there had to be a better answer for pain relief and management.
In 2005, I relocated back to my hometown area of DFW and began working with a local orthopedic massage guru named TC Cameron.
After 8 years of practicing, I had a back injury that caused chronic pain for 3 years. During that time, I discovered cryotherapy which helped me tremendously with inflammation from my injury. I, through my career experience and personal experience, realized there was an immediate need for a holistic recovery pain and injury center. People more than ever are looking for alternative care and to get out of the loop of medical care. After 8 years and meeting a business partner who also showed interest in opening a recovery practice I decided to take the plunge and give people what they were searching for. Fusion Whole Body Recovery opened officially in February 2014. After 2 years I became the sole owner and manager of Fusion and we are soon to be hitting our 4-year anniversary!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This career has not only been that but also my passion. It has helped me through several personal losses, the death of my Mother, divorce and illness. Building a clientele can be daunting when starting in this business. We have learned our partners and my other passion of community are our best tools. Also, the disintegration of the initial business partnership was difficult but forced me out of my comfort zone and Fusion was able to catapult into new opportunities. Then being a Mom and business owner! That’s a beautiful struggle but is a balancing act for sure!
Please tell us about Fusion Whole Body Recovery.
Fusion is a holistic recovery center for pain and injury. We offer Orthopedic massage/bodywork, Cryotherapy, Infrared treatments, educational workshops for athletes, and products to help manage pain and prevent injuries. We work with clients as young as 3 months to 105! Everyone needs self-care and pain relief at some point in their life. All of our therapists are trained to assess, treat, and educate our clients. We are known for our hands-on approach and education of our clients. I am proud that we are truly a company that cares about our clients. I have seen some of my clients for over 10 years! It’s great to help guide them through and out of the healing process and seeing them become more and more aware and connected to their body. Our techniques are ones that are rare in the holistic industry and our caring, observant and educated team are what sets us apart even more.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over from the beginning, I would take my knowledge of marketing and go straight to the people and to the community. Being a breakthrough type of industry, we had to figure out where our time and resources were most needed and best spent. This caused some flops and some “wasted” resources but at the same time, there are no failures only learning experiences!
