Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for the beauty industry, specifically the glamour side of it. I love working with people to make them feel their best. I put my focus more on instant glam as I know lives are often too busy or hectic to spend a lot of time primping. I have put my energy the past year into offering that effortless glamour to my clients…that “I woke up like this” look, because that’s the best feeling and it’s so convenient.
Uptown Tan offers just what you need to achieve that effortless beauty. A nice tan is healthy in appearance as well as cosmetically flattering, but you don’t want to risk premature aging or skin cancer by spending hours baking in the sun. Airbrush tanning is perfect to achieve that healthy, sexy glow without the health risks and complications from harmful UV rays. Airbrush tanning is custom to your body shape, size and the pigment of your skin as well as your hair and eye color. It’s a win-win!
Uptown Tan also offers eyelash extensions for that pretty flutter and eyebrow microblading to complete your instant and effortless Glam. Everyone wants to look their best and I’m here to help with that so you can live your life beautifully.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being a small business owner definitely has its trials. Though the beauty industry is a billion dollar a year business, there are many setbacks… the number one complication for me was the competition. There are so many beauty artists that are A+ at what they offer on their menu (which is often what I offer) that the market is saturated. You have to be competitive, but still maintain integrity and quality with your service as well as your product. I use quality, organic solutions for airbrush tanning as well as reputable products for eyelash extensions… which forces me to maintain a higher standard of practice. To maintain my ExtremeLashes certification I have to follow a specific pricing structure, this is often a bit higher than some local artist. Things like this can be a struggle with so much competition in the Dallas area.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Uptown Tan & Glamm – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are conveniently located in the heart of Dallas in the uptown area. We opened fall of 2016 with just airbrush tanning only. A few weeks later GlammLash was added to the service menu so our clients could complete that instant and glam look.
Uptown Tan offers custom airbrush tanning, eyelash extensions and eyebrow microblading in a private boutique atmosphere. We are by appointment only and have a flexible schedule to accommodate your needs.
As a small company, I’m proud of many things, but our skill set, customer service, and quality products are at the top of the tier…I believe this alone sets us apart from others.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Dallas!! I am a native Texan and very proud of it. I moved to the city of Dallas two and a half years ago from McKinney. I wanted to be in the heart of the city with people, action and convenience to the things I enjoy. Dallasites are a beautifully diverse and inspiring group of people and I couldn’t ask for a more awesome place to live and thrive.
I wouldn’t change anything about my city, but I would add something… if I could make it just a little more pedestrian friendly, I would.
