Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Posinski.
Jennifer, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started pedicures when I was about eight years old. I only serviced my mother’s toes. Then I grew out of that and started perming close friends’ hair around the age of 14 years. I’m now 47. Lol
Hello, my name is Jennifer. I started Just Add Polish & More in Wylie, Texas in 2013. My son was very young and the business needed more time spent, he was little and needed me more so I took a break and went back to devoting my mommy time to my son. Throughout those years were ups and downs. I found myself struggling with an abusive marriage relationship. Hope in Plano Texas and my family supported me to be strong and I finally had enough strength physically, emotionally out of the relationship. It took years of decision making, it wasn’t an overnight decision.
So I found myself single, working with a local school district with a child but the passion of nail beauty service was still lingering. I had a driven spirit that wouldn’t burn down. I have a passion for learning new things. So I started searching and from scratch built myself up little by little and researched how to go about starting a business without extra monies. Resources started with Wings in Dallas, Texas. I wanted to put my Cosmology license to good use. So more research online I reached out and found I started up again with the positive encouragement from the W Salon (brand new small salon) owner, Sid As I struggled being the breadwinner, learning marketing.
I realize I had a passion for helping people take care of their nail’s hands feet. Nothing is more satisfying than to see your customers become your friends. What makes my mini spa uniquely cute decor, scent of wax melts, smiling friendly faces, customer service is number one, make you comfortable during your services. You will find me asking if you need any more comfort, they say the hostess has the most.
It’s like having company over to your house. Make them feel welcome and comfortable. Is you have a choice to choose from many scented salt scrubs, massage butter, masque. A nice massage is always included with services whether it’s a brief one. Flower nail art is free of charge on big toes. Summer is when I advertise about the free flower artwork on Big toes with every pedicure service. If you need insight on hang toenails to shout me a text I can give you a simple tip to keep yourself from having sore ingrown toenails and no heading to the podiatrist. Also, I’ve included lash facials hair and a small mini boutique.
I’ve been licensed since 2003. Struggled but made it through even though I was living in an abusive relationship. With the help of my father, sent me to Austin, Texas paid me to go through to get licensed. Don’t give up, be strong, don’t look back, lean on family support, lean on resources in the community that is provided for women, do your research! There is so much organizations and books about, it never hurts to ask is my motto! All they have to say is yes or no at least you tried. Save monies and have a positive attitude even when things are against you like the wind. Have goals to reach out for help me along the way. Remember there is light down the tunnel in an abusive relationship. There is Hope!
I work this Just Add Polish as a second job but I consider this my FUN JOB! I continue to work at the local School district WISD in HOPE BEHAVIOR UNIT we specialize in helping students with behavior in K-2nd grade.
A situation I had to live with an abusive husband without his support, then single mom, not enough resources, unexpected death of my mother Sept 2019, confidence or Ups and downs, my mother passed away, struggle with ex-husband’s, and struggled with my own demons of aftermath with all what I’ve been through. But I promise there’s hope! And just do it! If it doesn’t work at that time At least you tried and as you go you learn from it and the next try is even better. It may not be then but it will be again.
My pedicures are custom made from unique unicorn glitter to Raspberry bubbly sorbet to a night out on a date ‘Glitter pedicure’. 14 different scents. A scented neck wrap and relaxing music with a choice of wine to a choice of Sonic cherry coke.
My services are not fast pace (in a rush) but a mini quaint, relaxing spa friendly salon. But you may choose a girl on the go service and be on your way. What helped me get through is my support system which is my family and my faith in the Almighty God. Also working side by side with positive Teachers from the school district. And a business owner name Sid the owner of the W Salon in Wylie, Texas who encouraged and gave me an opportunity in his salon. I currently work fulltime for WISD and just Add polish is a second job.
