Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Redman.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My husband, Greg, and I moved to North Dallas from Atlanta in 2009 following the downturn of the economy. He’d lost his job with Wachovia and we needed a change. With his background in banking and family here, we knew this was the place to build our future. My background included real estate licenses held in California, North Carolina and Georgia with specialties in Residential, Land Sales and also new homes sales for a top tier builder. As Greg and I immersed in our new city, we also started our family and welcomed our daughter, Georgia, into the world as a native Texan.
My job at the time was in sales and marketing for a national brand. My health began to suffer; creating challenges at home and in the workplace.
When Georgia was a toddler, Greg and I went to dinner and discussed the idea of me leaving my corporate sales job to get a Texas real estate license. I explained that nerves were the only barrier and my limiting beliefs were telling me that I didn’t have a large enough sphere to build a business here. My always supportive husband responded with that I’d built from scratch before; the difference now would be that I had experiences from which to draw and now we can live a life we design together.
I signed up for classes the next morning. Within two and a half weeks, I’d passed the courses and was ready to take and pass the licensing exam. Within three weeks, I’d joined Keller Williams Realty and begun their introduction program. I have always found it imperative in any chapter of life to research those who’ve come before me and paved the way, use their success as a baseline and often a tutorial of sort. I made it my habit to know these people. Christie Cannon built her business into The Christie Cannon Team; a top producing, top 100 worldwide team in previous years through perseverance and always… always acting on behalf of the client, exemplifying honor and sincerity.
Kevin Cannon, Broker and Owner of The Christie Cannon Team, taught one of our introduction classes at the market center. I caught Kevin after class to ask questions about “being on a team” vs “individual agent.’ I’d been approached by many teams and wanted a clear picture. The following day, I met Christie in passing. I sent Christie a note to let her know I appreciated her business and respected the path she’d taken in her career; as a woman, entrepreneur and professional.
Christie wrote back and asked if I’d sit with her to discuss being a Buyer’s Specialist on her team. The statement that inspired me to join her team was when I asked how it feels to be Christie Cannon and she replied by pointing to each office within our office saying “that’s Christie Cannon, that’s Christie Cannon…” over and over at each individual team member.
I view this team as though I own it myself and it is my name in front. I help families into homes every day; regardless of price or scenario. Knowing that I help families as an educator, a counselor and advocate in their future allows me to bring positivity home to my own.
That is my story of how The Christie Cannon Team at Keller Williams and I found each other.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Any road to success is bumpy and as Gary Keller says “success is simple, not easy.” When I joined the team, establishing credibility as an expert to clients and moreso, my peers and colleagues was important to me. The ugly dark place inside of oneself that fertilizes the seeds of insecurity took over and I found myself questioning whether or not I could make it in a commission only- referral based career. I thought “why would someone have me assist them when there are so many others out there with the same credentials?”
The first family I helped find a home in Texas introduced me to their children, their extended family and their colleagues. Richard and Barbara Goldstein told me that they could see that I cared for them, protected their money and plan. In this first experience, I realized that my self-doubt was of my own creation. I take every class I can. I educate myself in the market, buyer and seller trends as well as intrapersonal psychology. I make it a personal victory to outpace others in care and service. I know now that there is not a better, more qualified or more service minded Buyer’s Specialist to help a family into their home. Believing this remains my biggest achievement.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Christie Cannon Team at Keller Williams Realty – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a Senior Buyer’s Specialist/Realtor, ABR on The Christie Cannon Team at Keller Williams. I specialize in helping families determine the best direction and home for their future; whether it is an investment, a first home or their forever home. I am known for my fierce advocacy of my clients protecting their plan.
The Christie Cannon Team reputation is a great source of pride for me knowing we’ve built it based on putting our clients above all else. My efforts to educate my clients to make an informed decision whether this means to move forward with a purchase today or years from now is what separates me from other agents. An informed plan derived from facts and statistics creates a far more impactful result than one based on generalizations or opinions.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I love this question because it directly correlates to the life my husband and I began designing years ago. I look forward to the future knowing we are building our own long-term home in our dream neighborhood. We plan together for joy and growth, a noisy home full of tradition and football or a quiet home with dinner and conversation.
My career won’t change because it is also my livelihood. I take pride and joy from helping people into homes. I plan to take that to a new level in helping those who can’t afford their own. A life I create that can help others into a home for their family will be a fulfilling one.
