Meet Jennifer Sereno of ST.ARTS in Oak Cliff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Sereno.

Jennifer, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Currently the owner of a female operated landscape design and implementation company, called St.ARTS. We focus on sustainable arts, holistic and regenerative landscape solutions. I’ve always loved to steward plants and grow vegetables and never thought it would lead to a thriving career.

The last company I worked for was a humanoid robotics company. We made animatronic human-scale robotic heads.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Working in a male-dominated industry, with a small group of women, has come with its share of challenges. The work is really physical, and mental, but extremely rewarding. We have to come up with creative ways to move through designs; from how we take our time to problem solve and move safely through a project, to how we navigate working with clients. We work mostly rain or shine depending on where we are at in a project.

We are often challenged by the amount of patience that comes with implementing a design, sas with gardening, plants have to grow and things evolve. So many designs are not realized for 3-5 years, if not longer.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about ST.ARTS – what should we know?
We are known for our artistic and aesthetically-focused landscape solutions. I’m extremely proud of our team of strong, supportive, and hardworking women. To my knowledge, there are not many woman-owned, and operated, landscape companies in the metroplex.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without an extremely large village of elevators and supporters. It’s quite humbling. I’m thankful to everyone who has trusted us to collaborate with them.

Thankful to Cone Johnson because she’s been an extremely supportive cheerleader throughout my creative life journey. Providing referrals (how you found me), and opportunities to express myself creatively and with client referrals.
