ProWorks Procurement Services was started by the support of family and friends along with the relationships and knowledge I had gained from previous employers. Venturing out and starting your own company is very intimidating. With lots of research, and support I took the leap and created ProWorks 3 years ago. I was fortunate enough to have the support of a large customer and a large network of vendors with confidence in my ability to forge a new company. The relationships you build through your career are the biggest asset you can have, not only as an individual but as a company.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting your own company isn’t always easy, There are many times where you invest more than the 8 hour business day to your job. Sleepless nights thinking of ways to grow, customers to please, and finances can take its toll. My best advice would be to reach out to other small business through different associations and get advice. You can never start a new company thinking you know all the aspects. Hurdles will come out of nowhere. Not only did I start this company, but we started a family as well. I welcomed my first child, Lily, this December so to say the least, it’s been a crazy year! I want others, especially women to know, you can achieve your dreams. It will take perseverance and support but you can do what you set your mind and heart to.

ProWorks Procurement Service is a value-added, woman-owned procurement service provider and strategic sourcing partner to commercial, government and construction organizations. ProWorks reduces the workload of facility purchasing by eliminating the time-consuming task of multiple supplier sourcing through purchase order consolidation.
As a company, we are most proud of our relationships with our customers. Assisting large government facilities as well as local engineering firms in reducing procurement cost on several projects is something I take pride in.
Being a woman-owned business in a mostly male environment sets us apart. With the knowledge of industrial supplies and supply chain management, I am definitely a minority. I’ve accepted the challenge and try to prove daily that anyone can do what they set their mind to.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m hoping to grow my customer base. We are working on consolidating purchasing with a large network of government facilities and hoping to gain more state and local customers.
