Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Terrell.

Jennifer Terrell

Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Points existed in my life when I would cook in my kitchen as I wondered what it would be like to be a businesswoman. Time and time again, I would receive compliments about the taste of my food. As a result, I allowed my faith and my recipes to come together in pursuit of my goal of becoming a businesswoman. With this, I opened J’s Tasty Kitchen. Whether serving customers who come to my business or providing catering services, it is my pleasure to present my recipes to all my customers.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to becoming a businesswoman and flourishing as a businesswoman has not been a smooth one. Times have existed when I have been presented with the dislike of a woman being in charge and the dislike of a black woman being in charge. Despite this, I allow such circumstances to serve as opportunities to strengthen my connection to the Lord. It requires faith and trust in God to take the risk of opening a business. Plenty of people told me that I was wasting my time going into the business world. Even so, I did not let this stop me. There are ups and downs in whatever a person pursues in life. Knowing this, I do my best to succeed.

As you know, we’re big fans of J’s Tasty Kitchen. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
J’s Tasty Kitchen is a restaurant that specializes in Southern-style cooking. The recipes were once what I used to make meals for my family, and they now serve each customer who comes to us. Whether providing delicious meals for customers who come to J’s Tasty Kitchen or those at events for which we cater, I love to bring the delight of my recipes to others. Tasty recipes and great customer service set us apart from others. Regardless of the amount of money that a customer spends, we work hard at J’s Tasty Kitchen to ensure that our customers will come again and again.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I plan to one day stand before thousands of audience members while speaking about how being a businesswoman was only an idea in my mind as I was cooking in my kitchen at one point in my life. However, I had the faith to take a risk to pursue my goal. Taking a risk is not an easy thing to do, but faith is the tool that will lead you to your goal as you trust in God.
