Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Alexander.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jeremiah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was younger, I made many mistakes. These mistakes led to me to prison and four trips to rehab between 2010 and 2018. I was lost, trying to find my place in the world. I needed to change. The rehabilitation program I participated in helped me find my way. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life but was willing to try anything at this point. While in rehab, I committed myself to trying wholeheartedly, any opportunity that came my way.
Once I was released, acting became one of those opportunities for a positive change. This is what would help me to become and remain sober. This was my calling. It was a way for me to express myself. As a child, my thoughts, feelings, and opinions were suppressed; I wasn’t able to express myself in the environment I was raised in. Here I was free. I could finally be myself. After my last stent in prison, I’ve remained sober and focused on my acting and film-making career. Since then, I’ve started my own film production company, SEVEN LIVES MEDIA and will begin producing my first film titled “LIVING” this Fall.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No they have not been easy. Growing up in an unstable home, having low self esteem, fighting against drug addiction, anger, depression and crime, these have all been obstacles I had to own and overcome along the way. I did a total of six years in jail, four of them after I found my passion in acting. It was a long drawn out process of reprogramming my subconscious and shifting my paradigms to a healthy perception. I didn’t even watch any movies or TV for years while incarcerated because seeing my dreams on the TV was too painful to watch. I knew l was suppose to be on there too. Internally I was still sick, I had a lot of soul searching still to do before I could fully commit myself to my craft. I needed to develop stress management, emotional control and learn the mentality of the successful people I looked up to. I read tons of self-help books and when I found the ones that resonated with me, I would read them 3-4 times over. To this day I still read and listening to dozens of the books I discovered while in prison including Think and Grow Rich(Napoleon Hill), As a Man Thinketh(James Allen) and The Bible.
