Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermaine Thompson and Daniel Moody.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jermaine and Daniel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
At the time, I was a Dallas Police Officer, and I began working off duty at celebrity-driven, not club taken care of celebrities when they came to visit Dallas. I came to the conclusion I like doing that and developed a personal relationship with celebrities manager and said I probably could do this in the private sector. I did my research and went to Personal Protection school to become more knowledgeable and have the correct training when it comes to celebrity protection on top of my training been a police officer.
I eventually started my company later and nurtured those relationships and keep training and getting information about the celebrity protection industry. Next thing I know, I would get phone calls ” hey, I have an artist in town; can you help me with his or her security.” So I did that and did a good professional job and like a wildfire good professional work travels fast in this industry. I would also drive celebrity clients around as well. Eventually hitting the road and doing tours as well. Now to working in mega-churches doing personal protection for a Pastor a female at that. Me and now partner is looking to corner the market in church security training.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a smooth road but not an easy road. Patients and meeting the right people is important. Have a good team of employees is very helpful to run the business. The struggles can be pricing. What you done invested in time and training and building a resume of pass clients in this field, someone is always looking to do it cheaper and undercut you on pricing. I frequently remind the client that good security not cheap and cheap security not good!
Please tell us about Protection 4 The Stars.
Protection 4 The Stars is a security/bodyguard company. We specialize in unarmed and armed security officers, private investigation, and personal protection. I am most proud of my company is in church security how we bridge the gap between church volunteers, church safety, and a police officer. To come together and train and be on the same sheet of music. Lots of churches and security teams do not have that sheet of music per say. A lot of people say we have a police officer that go to our church, but none has never trained with there safety volunteer team. That show me in the security world that the left-hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing in case of emergency of threat.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city is definitely a great place for a business like mines. We done had I believe three in last nine months. And great job to the trained volunteer that to out the suspect in last church shooting! I would like someone to start out anywhere there a good training foundation. That a licensed company and work on the ground floor so you can understand the different ranges or levels of security. In our city, I just want to bring more light to our personal protection industry. More people should use it here in the DFW area. We are going to be a California and New York City. So training school is very important to add to your skill to get better. Train, train and train!
