Hi Jerry, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jerry Crespo, owner and operator of Texas Chosen Handyman. I’ve always had a passion for working with my hands and learning from those around me. Over the years, I’ve been blessed with mentors who shaped my skills, and today I’m proud to mentor others in the trade.
What I value most is building genuine, lasting relationships with our customers. Many become like family, and it’s an honor to serve our community with integrity, care, and craftsmanship.
Texas Chosen Handyman began in 2019 while I was working as a Maintenance Supervisor at an apartment complex. At that time, I was facing a difficult season marked by personal struggles, poor decisions, and legal challenges that forced me to take a hard look at the direction of my life. In the middle of that uncertainty, I felt a clear calling from the Lord to step out in faith and start my own business. Leaving a stable job, income, and housing while working to put my life back together did not make sense to many, but I trusted that God was leading me toward something better.
As I took the first steps to establish the business, God began opening doors in unexpected ways, providing confirmation that I was on the right path. Even when COVID brought widespread uncertainty, our business remained operational and continued serving the community. Throughout it all, God was not only sustaining the business but also restoring my life.
Today, we are grateful to celebrate six years in business. I give all glory to God for the second chance He gave me and for the opportunity to give back. Our mission goes beyond home repairs. It’s about helping people through difficult seasons, building trust, and honoring God in all that we do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, the journey came with seasons of uncertainty, financial pressure, and lessons learned the hard way. Starting a business while navigating personal challenges required resilience, discipline, and faith. There were moments when growth felt slow and the weight of responsibility felt heavy, but each obstacle strengthened both the business and my character. Those experiences shaped how we operate today with humility, integrity, and a deep appreciation for every opportunity to serve.
