Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Alexis.
Jessica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been an artist all my life it’s in my DNA. I started off drawing birthday decorations for my brothers and sisters when my mom would throw us birthday parties. I got the gift of drawing from my dad he was a talented artist who would draw with a bold point pen. I keep going in school I would win awards for paintings and drawings. I even had a couple displayed in museums and some feathered in the newspaper.
My love for photography didn’t come until I went to summer camp. I will never forget they had a bird watching activity and we would take pictures using film cameras. That was the first time I took interest in photography and every since bird watching, I stayed snapping pictures. After I graduate high school, I went into Tarrant County College to obtain my Associate’s degree in Graphic Design. While still building my photography business, I went on to get my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I am now a full-service photographer who specializes in capturing the creativity of my client’s visuals.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s definitely been rough some struggles I’ve faced was letting go of fear and trusting God’s process. I also struggled with criticism from family and friends about becoming an entrepreneur.

A couple of quick things about my business, I love to Co-partner with my husband in his youth program “Groomed for Success Youth Empowerment Program” to help disadvantaged youth in our community. My business likes to service the community and give back.
Working as a portrait photographer is amazing. The DFW offers endless and exciting locations to create beautiful portraits all within a short distance of each other.
Portraiture is my favorite type of photography. I like the challenge of truly capturing the essence of my clients, I’m very gifted in the art of capturing emotional storytelling through a glance of a picture.
