Meet Jessica Blade of NailedByJess in Irving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Blade.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, first off, I’m so humble and thankful to be given this opportunity and platform to tell my story this far is such a blessing. Two years ago, I found myself at a point in my life where my happiness was at stake. I’ve been working in corporate America for years with stability at a good paying job. I remember it like it was yesterday, my best friend and I would be on the phone day and night literally planning a way out of the corporate world and that’s when God introduced me to nails of all things, I’ve always lived for fashion/beauty, but nails I would’ve never thought. I talked to my husband about leaving my current situation with my job, he knew how unhappy I was and has supported me from day one from him encouraging me that I need to take that leap of faith trusting that God will see us through this journey. Let me tell you that’s when that mustard seed faith comes into play, I was so hesitant to leave but I knew in order to take back my happiness, I had to step out on faith even though I couldn’t quite see the vision clearly, I had to TRUST that my God had a plan and purpose for my life and just with knowing that, I knew I couldn’t lose. That was all the security and confirmation I needed.

July 2016, I resigned from my job began self-teaching myself for a few months went and enrolled in Cosmetology school in 2017 to get my license and God has been showing out ever since. Sometimes, I sit back and think “Jess, what if you never trusted God,” you guys have no idea how scared I was to let go of my job, etc. But the fact that my life is so much better, so much more rewarding and I have took back my happiness and its only the beginning… my God!!! I’m winning with that alone.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth road!!! Lol, that’s cute. I’ve had so many detours merge left, make a u-turn, rerouting signs in my journey but no DEAD END sings heeeyy come on Jesus! Let me tell you nothing in life is easy, this obstacle course I’m on is only preparing me for that bigger reward that is in store for me. I’m new to the entrepreneur/business lifestyle so this has been a struggle trying to learn how to conduct and run a successful business so everyday is a learning experience. I’m so grateful for the people God has placed me in contact with who already have a established successful business. The gems you guys have given me, I’m very appreciative of. Through it all, I know that these trials and tribulations I have been faced with is only a testimony in the making.

James 1:12 ” Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”

NailedByJess – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Licensed Nail Technician located in Irving, TX. I currently specialize in natural nail care as well as artificial (Acrylic Nails ). 2016 when I first started my journey I wrote down three small goals (1. Enroll in Cosmetology school. 2. Obtain license. 3. Get my own space.). It is such a overwhelming & rewarding feeling to say that as of October 2018 I have finally crossed off all three things in that order. what sets me apart hmm… I would have to say my spirit, passion, drive, my determination. Anyone can say they do nails but when that passion isn’t there and you’re doing something for the money and your heart isn’t in it, your clients will be able to detect that. My husband made a comment two years ago, “if you’re doing this for the money, it’s not gonna work, do it because you enjoy and are passionate about it and the money will come”, I live by that. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to change someone’s day just by adding to their beauty or just by being that little escape they need. No dollar amount can be placed on that. I’m so thankful for the clients I have now for the loyalty you have showed throughout this new endeavor, and to the ones that are to come in the future. I truly appreciate you all!!!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is my relationship with God, my happiness, marriage, family, positive support from friends and a beautiful successful business that is flourishing by the grace of God and hard work. Being able to meet new people while leaving an affect on someone that keeps them wanting to come back for more. Having stability in all those things is how I view success. Some of my markers are my amount of returning clients and what are the things that I can do to increase that number.
