Jessica Chante’, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I fell in love with cooking the moment I laid eyes on my grandmother’s creations. Growing up, I would set aside the kitchen to idolize the dishes my grandmother, aunts, and mother would make. They all would sing, dance and joke around while helping their mother cook creating memories that are unforgettable. As a little girl, I never understood why I loved cooking so much, but it was something special about turning an idea into an edible creation. In curiosity, I asked my grandmother one day, “Why do you enjoy cooking?” she immediately responded, “this is the way to any and everyone’s heart”. As I got older, those words started to mean more to me. I began to experience how food brings families, neighborhoods, churches, and strangers together. The moment I was old enough to cook, I began my journey as a Chef. Just like my grandmother, I strive to give people something to enjoy in a flawless way. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and support from my son Kane, family and friends.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have definitely been some bumps in the road. Growing up, my mom would tell me, “if your dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough”. Being in the food industry, I feel like my biggest struggles are trying to find the right taste to appease everyone. The real challenge is identifying each customer taste palate. As a chef, it’s difficult to satisfy everyone, but I feel it’s important to always ask for feedback to help determine a way to make as many people happy as possible.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Flawless Eatz story. Tell us more about the business.
Flawless Eatz is a mobile catering company that caters to all parties, weddings, office lunches, etc. There are also weekend lunch specials that are served frequently. We are known for our Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Pasta and Flawless Chicken Burritos that went viral on Facebook. Here, we take pride in great customer service, flavorful food, and flawless presentation. Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think luck has played any part in the success of my business. I am a firm believer that grace has allowed Flawless Eatz to get where it is today. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
