Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Huston.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jessica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My interest in floral design quickly grew after my own wedding 5 years ago! I decided to take several semesters of floral design classes at a local college so that I could learn the mechanics of floral design and understand the basics. After completing these classes, I wanted to see if I would enjoy the thriving Dallas wedding industry or if I would just use these new skills for my own personal use.
I had the honor of apprenticing for about a year at a local florist whose work I truly admired. Creating beauty with my hands brought me so much joy, and I loved the hustle of the wedding industry. I was soon asked to take on weddings for family members and friends for several months before deciding I should start my own business.
Two and a half years later, it was time to quit my corporate day job and focus on my dream job!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While my business has continued to grow, I had to keep my corporate job for several years until I could afford to let my business stand on its own.
Root and Bloom Floral Design – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Root and Bloom has grown a name for its organic and lush style. We specialize in anything from weddings, corporate events and small parties.
We are proud of our ability to be hands on for every event while also building relationships with brides to deliver their dream vision. One of my favorite parts of a wedding day is handing over the bridal bouquet to the happy bride!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Two recent milestones have been the transition into running my own company full-time and having the honor of my work being showcased on the cover of The Brides of North Texas magazine.
