Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Salmeron.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always had a love for writing and sending handwritten notes. My friends and family know me as the one who sends cards for every holiday. The feeling that comes with the enjoyment of putting a smile on someone’s face is indescribable. Sitting down and handwriting something is such a calming feeling. To take that love even further, I took several calligraphy courses and was fascinated with the beauty of each style of lettering. My best friend and my sister took a chance on me and let me do their wedding invitations. From there, I just kept pushing myself and expanded my knowledge in the field. I love being able to create something exceptional and unique for someone as well as being part of their special moments.
Please tell us about your art.
I specialize in addressing invitations, be it for a wedding, baby or bridal shower, parties, fundraisers or a simply just because letter. I also work on day of details such as escort cards, place cards, and event signage. I offer modern calligraphy, copperplate and more traditional styles such as italic. In addition, to help bring back the love of letters, I offer to send a thank you, love or just because notecard for you, up to four lines at no charge. I want as many people as possible to experience the joy of having something hand lettered just for them.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Don’t stop believing in yourself! I still struggle with that feeling. It’s hard not to compare yourself to others, especially in the online social media world we live in today. Each person has something unique to offer, and once you find and believe in that uniqueness, there is no stopping how far you can go.
