Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesus Torres.
Hi Jesus, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Where I’m standing today, it all began because of the dream of becoming a hairstylist. After struggling, trying to find myself in different careers I finally decided to follow my dream and enrolled myself in cosmetology school in 2014. One of the best decisions of my life.
I successfully concluded my courses and continued to dedicate my time and effort to my career growth.
But it was not until 2017 when I finally pulled the trigger and decided to become an entrepreneur and create Icon Hair Studio. Seven years later, I’m very grateful to say it has been an incredible journey, personal and professional.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve always believed that nothing that really pays off in life is going to be easy.
With that being said, one hard situation we all had to go through was the pandemic in 2020.
Personally, as an entrepreneur and a hairstylist it was a very unpleasant experience, trying to stay in business and follow protocols at the same time was challenging.
I have to say we all stayed resilient and hopeful and worked pretty hard to keep afloat. That’s a challenge we will never forget.

I’m Jesus Torres. I’ve been a hairstylist in Dallas, Texas, for 10 years and owner of Icon Hair Studio for 7 years. I specialize in hair color and hairstyling artistry.
I’ve been very successful, and for this, I’m very grateful to my clients, who, over all these years, have become my very close family.
I strongly believe that what sets me apart is simply the love I have towards my craft but most importantly towards the connection I get when I take care of my clients.
Getting up every morning and knowing I’m going to work and do what I love and interact with my clients truly gives me much joy. I would believe that’ probably one of my characteristics my clients enjoy about myself.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in all these years is to always stay focused, positive, and true to yourself. And always follow your dreams!
As I was following my dream of creating Icon Hair Studio, seven years ago, I had to face challenges, and most of these challenges were all in my head, telling me I wasn’t able to.
When you set your mind to anything you wish to accomplish, it will always be possible!
