Jewel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Natural Jewels launched in October of 2015. After creating natural products from myself and family for ten years, I decided I wanted to share the product line with the world. My extended family has suffered from or is currently suffering from cancer. That’s the main reason I decided I need a healthier alternative to bath, body and home products and so came Natural Jewels. After three years of working on Natural Jewels part-time, I decided to quit corporate America, relocate to Texas and open the very 1st of many… “Self Care Cafes.” The Self Care Cafe opened in July of 2018 and offers facials, body treatments, hair removal… etc. in an environment that is peaceful, aromatherapeutic and addresses skin concerns with a holistic approach. Natural Jewels also offers monthly DIY classes that teach the benefits of natural products and allows customers to take part in the creation of their very own products.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been very rough. I am a divorced mom of three beautiful girls. So, it’s been tough quitting a great job and transitioning into full-fledged entrepreneurship as being the sole means of income. There have been A LOT of mistakes made. Searching for the ideal space. Being homesick from NY, building a business from scratch, implementing new products and ideas.
Please tell us about Natural Jewels.
I am the owner/curator of Natural Jewels. I specialize in formulating handcrafted beauty products and creating custom skincare plans to address most common skin concerns women and men of all ages face. I am most proud that Natural Jewels believes in a natural approach to skincare and choose products and ingredients that are inline and support a healthy lifestyle. Natural Jewels has managed to fuse a relaxing environment with the clinical result we all want to achieve in a facial and all products are handcrafted to order in small batches. No shelf life fresh from us to your door.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be helping my dad build an engine from collected parts. We worked effortless hours together on the project and always ended the day with ice-cream!
