Today we’d like to introduce you to JJ Goldman.
JJ, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I think of how my story begins, it feels like yesterday, I was 9 years old or so, doing pretend bridal photo shoots as a little girl with friends after school. Little did I know, I would grow up to still be a sucker for a beautiful bride! I always had a calling for braiding, styling, cutting, and coloring hair. After college and cosmetology school, I dabbled in commercial hair and makeup started growing a clientele in Dallas and slowly found my calling for bridal work.
There is a feeling that rushes through my body when a client loves her hair cut or color and especially when a bride turns around with that glow of gratitude knowing she looks stunning from the hair and makeup I just did. It’s what keeps me loving my job day after day. When I receive pictures from the wedding or see a sweet post, I feel like it’s my birthday!
I park my scissors at Muse Salon during the week, my loyal cut and color clients bring me comfort and so much joy as we grow together. I slowly started working with brides doing on location hair and makeup for them about 8 years ago. My business has grown exponentially. My bridal work has been featured on the cover of Brides of North Texas, in DWeddings Magazine, as well as multiple blogs and online publications. I have amazing artists who travel with me to any local or far away destination site, we can handle any large number of bridal parties.
I knew after graduating from college that there would be no job that would fulfill me like making a career out of following my dreams.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It depends on what year you ask, it’s all relative right?
In my 20’s, I could function on late nights out and early call times without losing my cool. As I got older, married and now, have two beautiful children, I would say the “bumps” in the road looking back, were just stepping stones to get me to the happy place I am today.
Of course, I had a few tough love lessons as far as legitimizing my business, figuring out loyal coworkers to surround myself with and learning how to be professional in situations that are once in a lifetime for each special Bride.
I can thank my parents, grandparents, and a husband who all lead by example and are never short to guide me in the right direction.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My fondest memories are from my grandmother, June. She was so beautiful and inspirational. At the time, I didn’t realize how watching her never miss having her red lipstick on or never seeing her grey roots impacted me. She was a classy woman, someone who always knew how to be quiet in a room but stand out so much with her charm. I strive to emulate her and bring those sweet attributes into my growing business.
