Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Crocker.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am a registered nurse and portrait photographer based in Corsicana, TX. I am also a wife and mother of two little ones! I worked as a nurse for 8 years before deciding to become a full-time photographer. I started my photography business in 2011. Although it was difficult balancing being a nurse and business owner, I persevered. My experience as a nurse has taught me great discipline and time management that I have carried over to my photography business. Caring for patients has enabled me to value the customer service I give to my clients. I have held a hand and comforted family members in final moments and with that, I truly understand how beautiful, timeless images can enrich our lives. I place a lot of value on tangible memories that we can pass down to our loved ones over the years. Sometimes it’s all we have to remember our loved ones or how we felt in a moment in time. This is the basis of why I do what I do and love to do it!
Please tell us about your art.
I am a portrait photographer, but I primarily photograph newborns and seniors. I am inspired by these particular milestones. The best photos of newborns can only be captured during the first two weeks of life. I love preserving these moments and giving my clients a reminder of their little ones at this time of their lives, down to every last detail. Senior sessions are also special to me because they remind us of our nature and spirit before we go out into the world and become grown-ups!
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
In a way, I believe it has become more difficult because there are so many artists out there, especially in the photography industry. I think a good way to help artists grow and thrive is showing support or mention on social media, or even teaming up to support a good cause together.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can find me across the majority of social media platforms.
