Meet Joel Conroy of Highway 2 Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Conroy.

Hi Joel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was very much into sports and bodybuilding at a young age. In high school, I suffered an injury to my back and shoulder during a basketball game, requiring shoulder surgery and physical therapy for my back and shoulder. I was told I would never be able to play sports or lift competitively again, but I refused that answer. It opened the door to learn how to rehabilitate my body and get back into sports safely and efficiently. Within 3 years, I was competing in powerlifting and strongman pain free.

This lead me into a career path that started with pre-medical school. I quickly realized that medicine wasn’t exactly what I wanted to get into, but my interest and passion was in exercise medicine. After completing my undergraduate in exercise science, I pursed the Board-Certified Exercise Physiologist from the American Society of Exercise Physiology. I also decided to pursue graduate school in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Florida, which I am expecting to graduate from at the end of 2026.

My background includes,
2020-Present- Business owner
2021-2024- Director of Strength and Conditioning at a high school
2019-Present- Manage and Salesman in dietary supplements at nutrition stores, such as World Class Nutrition and Shakes

Education
2020-2024- B.S. Exercise Science at Franklin University
2024-Present- pursing M.S. Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at University of Florida
2025- Board Certification in Exercise Physiology from the American Society of Exercise Physiology
2025- Certified Sports Nutritionist from International Society of Sports Nutrition
2020- 11 certifications from National Academy of Sports Medicine and International Sports Science Association

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have worked in schools, a corporate gym, and rented out multiple gyms the last 5 years. I wasn’t able to open up my own facility until August, 2025!

It’s also been tough finding the right path in exercise medicine (physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy, exercise physiology). I’ve bounced around a lot because I love them all, but landed on exercise physiology!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in exercise testing and prescription for chronic conditions, post-rehabilitation, pre-habilitation, athletes, and health and wellness,

I am most proud of my team!
Each of my team members has relatively extensive background in strength and conditioning. Some even have specified their scope of practice to helping athletes and team sports. A couple of us enjoy the chronic condition/post rehabilitation side and have chose to specialize our life’s work to the craft! We all have our place in the company and it oftentimes overlaps in the type of clientele we work for. For example, 2 of our exercise physiologists also help with the Kennedale Select Baseball Club’s strength and conditioning camps while also being a coach for our powerlifting team! The team also has an extensive background in medical and nursing settings, military, police, and much more!

Rather someone wants to lose weight and gain muscle, has a chronic medical condition, just finished with physical or occupational therapy, or is looking to enhance athletic performance, our team has your back!

We intern high school kids from both the Kennedale High School Kinesiology program and Fellowship Academy’s ‘Fellowship Medical Academy’s’ students.

We also work very closely with World Class Nutrition and Shakes. Myself and another team member works there to help people with nutritional advice, health protein shakes, and dietary supplements!

Lastly, we are expecting to have a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist by the end of November this year to offer medical nutrition therapy and dietary supplements prescriptions!
