Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Apple.
Johnny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I had worked for Emerald City Band for 8 years. I was head of audio/video production. In these years, I really got a grasp on the high-end wedding industry. I really learned the etiquette of the industry and how to perform effectively. I really started to watch the videographers in the industry as I was working sound with them. I had been a musician/songwriter for the last 12 years, so my grasp for music was very advanced. I got to a point where I needed more in my creative/artistic mind. I grabbed a camera. I learned everything I could about it. I learned most of it from watching millions of youtube tutorials. Haha! Then, I started to realize I could use my connections in the wedding industry and so I started a company. I really had a passion to tell the story of couples and allow them to see a video that they could relive for years to come. (Side note. I hired a videographer to film our wedding ten years ago and we have nothing to show of it. 🙁 This was a big driving force in me pursuing my career) As a musician/songwriter, it made me realize that filming has created a fusion of music and visuals. Choosing the songs in the films is so important to us. It really evokes all the emotion. Overall, we love experiencing the most important day of our couple’s lives. We are so humbled brides choose us to be apart of their day.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly, I have built relationships over the last 8 years and so, I feel our entry into the industry has been smooth. I worked so hard to learn every aspect of the wedding day that when we had our first big wedding we were very prepared. The very first wedding I had had, which was a small country wedding was very stressful, but we
got through it.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Johnny Apple Films – what should we know?
We are known for personality. We aren’t those techy video guys that it makes couples feel uncomfortable. We have enough balance of personality and tech that it really makes our couples happy. We are always told by our couples that we made them feel so comfortable on their big day. I mean its the most important day of their lives and could you imagine if they had a video guy that made them feel uncomfortable. We are artistic in what we shoot. We really like to put ourselves in the bride’s eyes so when she leaves her big day she can see everything. Another thing brides say is that I am so glad you were here, I was so frazzled all day but I was able to re experience the day with this video. This is from our website.
