Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny and Betty Crenshaw.
Occasions at Stone River opened in 2009 by Johnny and Betty Crenshaw. Betty, MSBA, retired from Texas A&M University in 2002 where she was the Director of Human Resources and EEO and was an adjunct professor in the Department of Business Administration. Johnny has been an entrepreneur most of his life, owning several businesses since age 22. He is also a licensed minister through Lake Pointe Church.
For several years, Johnny and Betty served in the marriage ministry at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall where they facilitated classes. Some of the topics included: communication, conflict resolution, achieving intimacy, and discovering your purpose in life. The “purpose” class reinforced the path that Johnny and Betty had chosen in the marriage ministry. In addition, they worked with newly married couples through the mentoring program.
Through Betty’s life, her hobby has been helping friends and family with weddings by making floral decorations, centerpieces, bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, etc.
So, working with couples, combined with a desire for wedding decoration, both Betty and Johnny developed a passion for helping young couples just starting out in marriage. This passion lead Betty and Johnny to design and build a wedding chapel and reception venue, “Occasions at Stone River.”
In addition to hosting weddings and receptions, they have expanded into hosting corporate and public events, including celebration of life” dinner theaters, and escape rooms.
The main purpose for building the wedding venue was to give couples more for less. They wanted couples to have everything they have dreamed of in their weddings for an affordable price. To accomplish this purpose, fortunately, the first person they hired was Executive Chef Robert Zachery. Chef Zach worked at the Anatole Hotel in Dallas where he served every living president (except Obama and Trump). His talent is unmatched in the Dallas area.
In addition, and again very fortunately, they hired Mrs. Angela Johnson as the bridal coordinator. Angela is so accommodating and easy going. Brides really trust and love her.
Also, Mr. Peter Silander was hired as lead DJ and director of production. His one goal is for brides to have the “perfect” wedding as they define it.
April Moon is the very capable office manager, along with the many wonderful wait staff.
So, the Occasions’ team would love to serve your family. It is their desire that every bride has the very best bridal experience – from the beginning stages of planning to the end of the wedding night driving away…
Please compare the services provided by Occasions as well as the prices. There is no doubt you will find Occasions truly does provide much more for much less than other venues.
Occasions is truly all inclusive and affordable.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Betty has health issues that keeps her from participating as she would like.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Occasions At Stone River story. Tell us more about the business.
The friendliness, warmth, and southern hospitality makes Occasions a cut above other venues. It is the desire of all Occasions’ staff for the bride to have the wedding she has always dreamed of become a reality.
