Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Gonzales.
Johnny, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Johnny Gonzales aka Johnny R Productions.
It’s crazy how I had started as a photographer/music video director.
I wanted to be a musician when I was younger so I started to make some new friends and pretty soon I created a small record label and soon I realized I need to make music videos for us so I got a cheap camera and started to shoot music videos and learned how to edit them watching tutorial off of YouTube.
Slowly I was getting better.
Maybe a year goes by and I stop the record label from problems with people so I quit shooting videos.
And maybe six months past and a friend from high school text me telling me about some artist that would want a music video and so that’s how I got back into videos I kept on working with this artist for months and soon I got interested into shooting photos and I had a little experience with photoshop from high school.
So I start shooting photos from him I noticed that my photos were not looking that good so I started watching YouTube videos learning how to use a camera and started upgrading cameras and got better at creating my own style.
Now I am starting to think my photography is great.
I never seen this happening from high school but I’m glad this is what I get to do It’s really fun for me creating something out of nothing making a price of art and capturing a moment of life.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was not easy a road but I’m glad it turned out the way it did.
A lot of learning and not being satisfied in my work.
It took me years to be satisfied with my work.
And it was more of a learning curve of me working with people because I was shy when I was younger and was always awkward having conversations with people I had to overcome that and that was a scary thing for me eventually I overcame it.
I’m more social now then I was back then.

Well I am a photographer/videographer.
People know me more for shooting music videos and some people know me for photography.
I am proud of how far I came from where I started from.
I’m happy with the work I do and making people happy for the work I do for them.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
This is a great city to start in for anybody it’s a big city and people will need photos for all different kind of situations and events and the same with videos.
