Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Lucas.
Jon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started in the mid-2000’s a friend and I had the wild idea of starting a company while we sat around the coffee table after we finished studying for college. That dream soon became a reality. We started off by buying a few properties in need of repair, renovating and selling them. We continued to buy more properties and continue the trend of buying, renovating and selling until reality struck, the housing bubble burst and the market collapsed. Faced with this unprecedented event, we were forced to close our business.
At this point I was lost, I loved what I was doing but due to circumstances out of my control, I could no longer continue down this path, but I did not lose my passion for Real Estate. After relocating back to Texas, it was apparent that Texas still had a thriving economy and there was still potential for a successful career in the Real Estate Industry. Soon after I pursued becoming a Real Estate agent with the encouragement of my friends, family, and people I had met within the industry. While I was eagerly becoming an Agent, I was unexpectedly offered a Sales Management position that I could not turn down, especially the security it offered after what I had recently been through.
After many years in my new career and with an improving economy, I began to yearn to get back into an industry I loved so much. This time it was different because after I learned of the now illegal practices that were going on in the mortgage industry before 2008, which directly affected me, I wanted to be a part of the solution and do my part to prevent it from happening again. It was then that I met who is my mentor today. She observed my passion and ability to help others by providing top-notch service and took me under her wing. After rigorous training and preparation, I proudly became an employee at her newly founded company, IKON Mortgage Inc. I can honestly say with confidence that I have found what I was meant to be doing all along.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Success in any manor does not come easily and I am no exception. I am thankful to have a group of peers around me that have encouraged me to follow my dreams and support me along the way. However, that is only one piece of the puzzle.
To be successful, sacrifices have to be made to achieve your goals. The Mortgage Industry is prone extreme highs and lows. Low times can be tough, especially when you are first starting out. I remember working so hard in the beginning and, at times, I felt I was getting nowhere, but I kept on going. I got turned down by potential clients, but I kept on going. One foot in front of the other, one obstacle over another, and finally! All the hard work started to pay off.

I look forward to becoming one of the most knowledgeable and respected Loan Officers in the Texas market at one of the most innovative Mortgage Companies in Dallas and beyond. Our growth strategy will hopefully allow us to expand into several States across the United States, so we may continue our journey and provide our exquisite service in new Cities for many years to come.
