Meet Jordan Stevens of Jordan Blalock Photography in Krum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Stevens.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story started when my daughter was born. I have always loved pictures, but trying to capture each and every smile, milestone and memory of her became an extremely important part of me. Once my business took off, I started strictly in Children’s Portraits, it was where my heart was. Along the way I met an enormous amount of talented photographers in the Denton area that I was quickly drawn to, they have all taught me so much in their own ways and I truly believe it has shaped me into the photographer that I am today. If you could of asked me if I saw myself as a Wedding Photographer 6 years ago, I don’t believe the answer would have been yes. However, If I could go back with the real life experiences I have seen over the years, I would go back and change that answer over and over again. There is just something defining about each and every wedding and the experiences a long the way, I can’t even describe how rewarding they are for me. The rush of the day, the little mishaps that turn into great table topics later, the tears of joy and tears of sorrow, sweet intimate moments, tons of laughs. I get to see people in their most raw, heartfelt state, and they fully trust me to capture that. Goosebumps, am I right? I get to walk an incredible journey from beginning to end with my brides from their sweet engagements, to their timeless bridals, all while forming incredible friendships along the way. I am forever grateful for my incredibly supportive husband, who is my rock and guides me as well as my friends and family who year in and year out are my biggest fans. My forever growing vendor family has my whole heart, I truly believe in community over competition and I am so proud of each and every one of my friends who continue to rock this wedding world with me, I couldn’t do it without them.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With any career choice comes obstacles and challenges, and I think what was the hardest along the way for me was finding myself. Because truly there is no right or wrong way to capture an image, it is creating a brand that speaks to you and defines you and that was probably one of the hardest challenges I faced over the years. I have been in business going on 7 years now and I am just now at a place where I feel like my work defines me and reflects my personality.

Jordan Blalock Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Wedding & Lifestyle Portrait Photographer, I specialize in Real Weddings, Intimate Engagements, Stylized Children Sessions, Boudoir, and Senior Portraits. I am most commonly known for Weddings & Children’s Portraits. I am most proud of how much my business has grown in the past year, I recently opened a BRAND NEW 1500 square foot Studio Space in my hometown and I can’t wait to see where it takes me. I believe I set myself apart from others by my attention to detail and patience. Weddings are fast-paced, not always on schedule and only happen in one day. When the day arrives, I am ALL in! Whether its helping fixes a broken button, bustling a dress, fixing a veil, putting on shoes, grabbing someone a drink, I am ALL IN.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
When I first started this business, I felt that it was a constant race to this unforeseen finish line of “How many likes do I have on Facebook?”, “How can I grow my current following”, etc.

As I have grown, I have learned that being successful isn’t about the number of likes you have, I truly believe in “quality over quantity”. I would prefer to have fewer followers and take my loyal clients any day.

Personally, for me, I define success by how something moves you. When I feel completely and wholeheartedly moved by a session or a client, that is a success.
