Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorgette Simpson.
Hi Jorgette, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I went to massage therapy school in Jan 2011 at Parker University. It was an 8-month program. After graduation, I began working at a spa in North Richland Hills. I also started my own mobile business called Touch Chemistry Massage Spa. I worked at a couple of chain massage spa, I worked at chiropractic offices, as well as mobile chair massage jobs. I gained so much experience as a massage therapist and learning how to take care of my clients. In 2016, I began working with a mobile app called Soothe. At this time, I felt so much growth in my skills and was really enjoying the freedom to work on my own schedule. During the 2020 pandemic, we were all forced to take a break. Once the city opened back up, I jumped on an offer to rent space out of my friend’s spa. Not knowing how things were going to work out, I took a huge risk, and it turned out to be such a blessing. I started there at the beginning of 2021 and built a decent membership-based business with some of the best clients I could ask for. Not only were the clients helpful, but everyone in the Spa worked together, and we took care of each other. I honestly look back and miss those times. Towards the end of my run at the Spa, I had a couple of clients pop up prego. I wasn’t certified at the time and wasn’t really looking to be. However, one of my clients was extremely adamant about coming to me and asked daily if I’d gotten certified yet. She said she’d only trust me to work on her pregnant. So finally, I caved, got certified, and started my practice on that client. Lol, she loved it, and so did I! That was the beginning of my new baby now, which is Manna Massage and Wellness. Lol guess we both were pregnant. I jumped headfirst into learning all I can about helping Mamas, to- be feel their best before, during, and after pregnancy and beyond. I take my hats off to all mothers who have gone through the process of giving birth. It’s definitely a rite of passage in my eyes.
I rebranded and relaunched Manna on the Spring Equinox in 2022. It’s so near and dear to my heart because I get to serve the beings who bring life onto this planet. We want every baby and mother to be healthy and happy during such an important time. I am currently operating a mobile massage service that books certified prenatal massage therapist to travels the entire metroplex offering prenatal and postpartum massage therapy to our DFW families. We specialize in birth preparation in the third trimester as well as immediate postpartum recovery.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I actually wanted to become a prenatal lmt in 2016. I signed up for the course online, but unfortunately, I didn’t finish. Not because I didn’t have the tools, but I was lacking the courage to take on such a huge responsibility. I just didn’t feel worthy at the time to even be around babies. I ended up taking a lot of time between Nov. 2021 even up to know to do some major healing of my own inner child, coping with decisions I’ve made surrounding my childhood traumas and having an abortion. I learned to give myself a lot of grace and forgiveness through a very difficult accountability time. Now I feel more deserving and worth than ever. No one is perfect or even expecting perfection. I’m actually honored to be chosen, and that’s why I am answering this call.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Zen for Two?
So, alongside Manna Massage and Wellness, I was guided to create Zen for Two- a living, breathing motherhood resource guide. This guide is now transforming into a service that helps mothers create Their ideal birth team. We partner with what we believe to be the best birth providers in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. All of our providers are so heart-centered and do their very best to make sure our mamas and families are well taken care of, are heard, and that their needs are being met according to their desires. What makes us unique is that we make sure you get to connect with our providers in so many different ways. Whether you meet them through our social media, newsletters, or in person, you get to know who they are, and you’re able to book your own consultation to see if they are truly a fit for you. Our ultimate goal is to make sure that all of our moms are supported completely throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. We have communities of mothers and communities of birth workers who are here to step in as family and village.
How do you think about luck?
I believe to be very lucky because opportunities usually find me. However, I’ve had moments when I felt I was down on my luck. It can feel like that at times, especially when you are working for yourself. You think, “Everything was just going so smoothly, then all of a sudden, poof, your clients disappear.” But honestly, I believe everything happens for a reason. I definitely get lucky when winning money or getting amazing clients that want weekly massages “wink wink,” but it is all about going with the ebbs and flows of life and being flexible. You never know where your next blessing will come from.
