Today we’d like to introduce you to Jornie Garrett-Williams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jornie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My journey started sitting with my mom and cousin, creating a vision board and discussing goals. My mom asked us what did we want to do in life and my response was to inspire a generation and to be a boss. She then explained that in order to be a boss, I would have to learn to serve and lead, so begin taking me to numerous events with other people that were likeminded and already where I was trying to be. I absolutely love lip gloss. Every time we would go to the store, I would ask my mom to buy me one, so one day she told me to figure out how to make my own and to be sure it was different from anyone else’s so I spent weeks trying to figure out the best way to create a gloss and balm type method and then went on to adding glamour and glitter to form Glamour & Gloss.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not! There have been many challenges trying to create the best gloss, from finding the right ingredients to making sure the packaging is perfect. I’m still dealing with the struggles of being sure my content and timing is right but my mama always “it cost to be the boss” Lol.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I have a girly teen/pre-teen business (as you should know). I mainly sell lip gloss but also lip balm, custom face mask, body oil, fur slides, shades, and more. I’m mainly known for my lip gloss. I love the fact that I’ve come pretty far in my business. What makes my business different from others is that I feel as if with other glosses they don’t make my lips feel moisturized and smooth and other glosses are so thick and when I rub my lips together with my lips the gloss will look nasty and sticky, but with my gloss, it’s not like none of that and I love it so much!
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I didn’t have a lot but my parents surely made away. But I’ve always been very wise, smart, and very expensive. Lol. So I knew one day I was going to do and be someone big. I never switched up what I wanted to do ever since pre-k – 3rd grade. I’ve always wanted to be an education teacher but once I got in 4th grade, I started wanting to be an entrepreneur, not knowing exactly what I wanted to do but I knew it had to be pertaining with Cosmetology. But I’ve always loved cosmetics things but me being an entrepreneur was what I wanted to do.
